I'm working on another Disney-themed "Moms and Mysteries" for our church youth group and one of the plates will be from "Belle's Beastro". The salad will have strawberry roses and the entree will be chicken cordon bleu (not beef ragout, sorry!), golden potatoes, and veggies. I'm still stumped for the veggies but the entree' plate items will be coded as "Bleu Belle" and "Golden Belle". I just tried my first time making the piped, yellow, cheesy, Duchess potatoes and I think the girls and moms will spot Belle's dress right away. I need to control the browning more for the event but they held shape very nicely. It is about 2.5" tall and 2.5" across the base. The color is really that yellow.

Any ideas for a third item on the plate? Veggie? Something else? We will have salad and rolls for the first course. It needs to be something without a lot of last minute prep.

Your chicken cordon bleu and the piped potatoes will both be "small and shaped" items ... I'd do roasted mix vegetables because they'd "round out" the plate nicely, and nutritionally you need some veg to balance the starchy potatoes. They're also easy to prep: you can chop a day ahead, and all you have to do is pop them in the oven with some oil and spices.

I'd do "haricots verts" or as we like to call it - fancy green beans. CLASSIC French side dish...and can be prepped quickly and easily and cooked and served the same. And you can prep that as simply or as complicatedly as you want:)...it's also a cheap dish, and a "known" one for kids, so it should be well-liked...

EDIT TO ADD: And it will also be pretty against the yellow (potato) and brown (cordon bleu) of the dish...

I was thinking this as well.

I was thinking about the same green beans but can’t come up with a catchy name for them. The idea is to have the participants order their dinner based on clever clues. For example, the salad will be Rose Garden for the strawberry rose and garden salad.

I know Belle grew lettuce (or cabbage) in the live action movie but I don’t see green beans. Thyme doesn’t go very well with green beans or I would have called them Tale As Old As Thyme. I’ve also been trying to come up with a fresh veggie mix to roast that could have a catchy title.

Thanks for the ideas and comments!

So, dessert is the gray stuff, then:)...

As for something related to Beauty and the Beast and green beans...

It's a treat for any dinner

PS (I haven't tried this, but I have often served both steamed and roasted green beans with a "'buttered' fresh toasted breadcrumb" topping (learned from my Oma and it's SO good), so I imagine this should work equally well...in fact, you could just do croutons on top of steamed/roasted green beans, but I don't technically have a recipe for it:)...
