I was just watching the news on cable, and every station is really pounding on Disney and the sickness on the Magic. It's almost as if the media has tapped into it's own little "cave of wonders". A FLAW in the Disney Company. Let's beat it to death. Jeez....

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that ABC, which as we all know, is owned by Disney, seems to be downplaying this? Or is it that all the other channels are playing it up too much?

It's not just the Magic ship that this is happening on. Why don't they report that fact!

Why not hype the Holland-America ship? Weren't there more sick passengers on that boat?

I've heard more about the other ship than the Disney one, I think we are just super sensitive to all things Disney. Let's face it, it's NOT a great marketing ploy. Like I always say, it must be a sloooooow news week.

Deb, I wouldn't be surprised if that's so. The corporations behind broadcasting send out immediate memos concerning stuff like this...

BTW, I get sick everytime I'm on a boat... anyone want to interview me and my symptoms??? :p

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Disney Cruise Line said Tuesday that 60 people aboard its cruise ship Magic -- now in the Caribbean Sea -- have come down with flulike symptoms

Entire CNN.COM story is here

Although the numbers of 60 currently ill is still rather low considering the number onboard the ship. BUT I think it is higher than last week at this time. I really wonder if Disney won't take the ship out of service for a week just to satisfy the publics opinions? (sorry, imgoingtodisney -- I hope your trip can go on as planned!):(

Hhhhmmmmm......flulike symptoms.....that only describes almost everything under the sun, including seasickness, if you think about it. Also, a 24 hour bug brought on board by a few people (say one family) who then hung out in a relatively small area with a crowd of other people.....I can see 60 passengers sick in a heartbeat.

um, Holland America got plenty of press.....they were on CNN before the Norwalk was even a glint in the Magic's eye.

The heat was taken off of them once they pulled one of their ships from service.....I'm sure once that ship goes back in, the press will be on it as well as the Magic.

I agree that the term "flu-like" is very important here. It could be the same stomach bug and reporting by people who don't understand that the flu doesn't cause upset stomachs, or it could be something else entirely. The flu and other similar colds (which are respiratory, not stomach ailments) can be spread very easily when everyone is living on one boat, and it may not have anything to do with the boat itself. We are getting into cold and flu season. I'm guessing with the low numbers on this one that if the Magic hadn't just had a major illness outbreak, this wouldn't have even been noticed.
