Beating the Spring Break Crowds?! - A March 2025 Pre-Trip Report

Congrats on getting your tickets! It’s always nice to have another thing crossed off the list.

(Also, I love Disney Tourist Blog, too! Tom Bricker is great and full of so many good tips.)

9:15 PM: our CURRENT Raglan Road dinner reservation. I’m hoping to move this to an earlier time (ideally around 7) but a spot hasn’t opened up yet. I’m going to keep checking!

Certainly keep checking the Disney site, but have you looked on Open Table? Many of the Disney Springs restaurants aren’t owned by Disney and therefore only release a portion of their reservations slots to Disney World. Raglan Road (and many others) can be found on Open Table.

Oh my goodness??!! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! I had no idea they were also on Open Table and when I went to check, they had a ton of open slots! I was able to book the perfect time and cancel my Disney booking. I cannot thank you enough for telling me about that! :worship: Also very good to know for the future

Hooray - I'm so glad that worked! I'm happy I could help!

Edited to add: I’m not sure if you’ve been to Raglan Road before, but Ger’s Bread and Butter Pudding is amazing and I highly recommend it. Make sure you remove the pudding from the cup and onto the plate to let the sauces get into every crevice!

I have not been - that sounds incredible! Definitely noted, I will remember to save room for dessert 😋

Hi! Just read your whole PTR. So exiting, your trip is right around the corner! I’ll be there in May. Can’t wait to hear more 😊

2/3/25 - Universal Orlando/Islands of Adventure Itinerary

Hi everyone! I’m back to share my itinerary plans for our Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure day! We have two-park one-day tickets for the Sunday of our trip, and we always start at IOA but this trip I’m thinking of changing it up and starting at UO. Again, one of my goals on this trip is to try as many new food places as possible, and this itinerary takes that goal into account… TBD on whether it’ll come to fruition. Similar to my last post, I’ll outline the plans below for easy readability!
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

7:45 AM: wake up, get ready

8:30 AM: Uber to Universal Studios

*Since we only spend one day off Disney property, we prefer to Uber rather than renting a car

9:15 AM: arrive at Universal, start at UO and head right towards Hollywood section of park
~ Bourne Stuntacular, E.T. Adventure, maybe walk through Dreamworks Land, stroll through Springfield, MIB Alien Attack

*It’s hard to know in advance what rides we will and won’t do, especially without express pass and knowing how crowds will be. I would really like to do the Bourne Stuntacular, since I’ve never seen it and I’ve heard great things. We also will NOT be participating in the Simpsons ride after my family’s rough experience with it last year :rotfl2:
**We will also be getting snacks/breakfast as needed during this time. I might want to try a crepe from Central Park Crepes since I’ve never gotten anything from this stand!

12:15 PM: continue walking around through San Francisco, New York, and then go to Minion Cafe for lunch
*Maybe ride Minion Mayhem (but probably not) and ideally ride Revenge of the Mummy because I’ve never been!

2:30 PM: walk through Diagon Alley, ride Escape from Gringotts

3:30 PM: Hogwarts Express to IOA

4 PM: Hagrid’s Motorbike, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, walk around Hogsmeade, walk through Jurassic Park, Kong ride, around to Marvel section & ride Spider-Man

6:30 PM: walk around to Seuss Landing, Seuss Trolley ride, Cat in the Hat

7:30 PM: leave park, Uber back to POFQ

8:30 PM: pick up dinner at Sassagoula Floatworks to take back to room, head back to room

9–10 PM: watch Oscars in room, go to bed
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

That’s a general outline of our plans for Universal/IOA! Whether or not you’ve been to these parks, you can probably tell that these plans are… ambitious. I was honestly contemplating getting Express Lane for this day, since we’re cramming two parks into one day. However, we were fine without it last year and it’s so expensive that I think we’ll just pass. If this was a once-in-a-lifetime Orlando trip, we’d definitely splurge. But it’s not our first time here and it won’t be our last, so we’ll make do without.

I am also a cinema studies minor, big movie person, and I just realized that the Oscars coincide with our trip, so I want to get back with enough time to catch the end of the awards, at least. It’s honestly a bummer to me that I’ll be missing any of the show. But oh well!

I know this isn’t Disney but as always, feel free to leave suggestions for Universal restaurants/snacks, or general tips! I make my Lightning Lane bookings in a little less than a week, so then I’ll be able to plan out our Disney park day itineraries and get those posted. Thanks for reading!

2/24/25 - Animal Kingdom Itinerary

Hi everyone! I’m back with my first Disney park day itinerary, since I was able to make our LL bookings this past Saturday! Honestly, I was so excited to make these bookings that I woke up an hour early, naturally. That never happens to me, but it’s certainly better than waking up too late. I found it interesting that the booking slot is dependent on your resort check-in date rather than your first park ticket date, but I guess that makes sense since the slot is dependent on whether you’re staying on- or off-property.

Anyways, I will outline our specific LL plans in future posts, but I was not holding back this year. Last year, I only got LLs (it was actually Genie+ during our trip last year, but still) on our MK day, which was definitely a mistake in hindsight. I think LLs would have been much more useful in HS or Epcot. So this year, I got us every LL Single Pass that Disney offers, and LL Multipass for every day except for our AK day. Hopefully this reduces the amount of complaining I hear from my dad about waiting in long lines :rolleyes1

Anyways, I’ll just jump right into our prospective Animal Kingdom itinerary!
____________________________________________________________________________

9:30 AM: wake up, get ready, quick breakfast at POFQ if hungry

*Since we have the entire day at Animal Kingdom and lines/crowds tend to decrease towards the afternoon, I figured we could get a later start today and just stay in the parks later, rather than getting there early and leaving early

10:30 AM: bus to Animal Kingdom

11 AM: enter park, watch It’s Tough to be a Bug show, Dinosaur, Finding Nemo show if time permits

*Since It’s Tough to be a Bug is closing before I’ll be at Disney again, I feel the need to experience it at least once! (despite my crippling fear of spiders)
**Same with Dinosaur, even though I’ve been on it before, I definitely want to go one more time

12:45 PM: head to Pandora and use LLSP for Flight of Passage
*Time slot is 12:40-1:40

1:30 PM: lunch at Satu’li Canteen
*100% one of my favorite QS at Disney, if not my #1. The cheeseburger pods are one of my favorite meals EVER. Like, in the entire world.

2 PM: ride Na’vi River Journey

3 PM: watch Festival of the Lion King

*As you can see, I’m kind of just estimating 1 hour for each of these attractions. I can’t really predict what the waits will be so this’ll be where we’re really flexible with our plans! Especially for Festival of the Lion King, since it’s a show with set showtimes

4 PM: ride Expedition Everest

5 PM: head to Africa for Kilimanjaro Safaris

*I usually ride this pretty early in the morning. However, since we’re planning for a late start today, I figured the next best time would be in the late afternoon/early evening, when hopefully it starts to cool down and animals might be more likely to come outside.
**We also have to be sure that we give ourselves plenty of time to get in line and ride, since this attraction closes earlier than the park!

6 PM: any last minute re-rides, shopping, snacks that I wanted and missed earlier in the day

6:30-7 PM: catch bus back to POFQ, change and get ready for dinner

7:30 PM: catch boat to Disney Springs

8:20 PM: dinner reservation at Jaleo for my friend and I

*I’ve never been here, but my friend has been to the DC location a few times and really likes it. I’m excited to try a new place!

9:30 PM: possible dessert – s’more at The Ganachery

10 PM: boat back to POFQ, pack to switch resorts next morning!
____________________________________________________________________________

That concludes our AK plans! One aspect of planning that I’m lacking on is QS and snacks that I want to try during this trip, so I definitely need to do some last-minute research and put together a list. As I say on every post, please don’t hesitate to reply with some of your favorite snacks or drinks, for AK or any park! I truly need the inspiration.

I can’t believe that in exactly 7 days I will be at Animal Kingdom! Anyways, I will be back soon with our Epcot plans. Thank you for reading!

Mmmm… snacks.

I’m currently working on a must-try snack list (because, of course I am! ) which I’ll post sometime soon to my PTR. I have more listed than I’ll note here, but here are a few I have on my short list for each park. Items marked with (*) are snacks I’ve tried before.

MK:
  • Cream Cheese Pretzel* (Lunching Pad)
  • Cheeseburger Spring Rolls (Spring Roll Cart)
  • Tropical Serenade (Aloha Aisle)
  • Peanut Butter Cookie Pie (Confectionary)
  • Tiana’s Beignets (Golden Oak Outpost)
Epcot:
  • Caramel Popcorn* (Karmell-Kuche)
  • Pretzel Bread Pudding (Sommerfest)
  • Croque Glacé (L’Artisan Des Glaces)
Hollywood Studios:
  • Carrot Cake Cookie* (Trolley Car Cafe)
  • Wookie Cookie* (Backlot Express)
  • POG Gelato (Muppets Courtyard Gelato Cart)
  • Num Num Cookie (Market in Pixar Plaza)
Animal Kingdom:
  • Buffalo Chicken Chips (Trilo Bites)
  • Mr. Kamal’s Seasoned Fries (Mr. Kamals)
  • Pineapple Crisp Sunday (Tamu Tamu)

There are also a few breakfast “snacks” I’d love to get including the breakfast Totchos from Woody’s Lunchbox (SO good!), Sticky Bubble Bread from Lunching Pad, and the Pancake Stuffed Sandwich from Drinkwallah or Pongu Pongu).

We’re also bringing our refillable popcorn bucket as Disney popcorn is the BEST.

Yummmm, all of these sound amazing! Definitely taking note of your AK suggestions, I think that's the park where I've tried the least amount of unique snacks. Thank you for the suggestions!

2/25/25 - Epcot Itinerary

Hello everyone! I’m back already to share our Epcot itinerary. I have until this Saturday to put together our plans, and this week is packed with homework assignments, last minute errands, planning, and packing that I need to complete before leaving for the airport early Saturday morning! So without further ado, our Epcot plans:
____________________________________________________________________________

8 AM: wake up, get ready, finish packing

9 AM: drop bags off at bell services at POFQ, request for bags to be transferred to Boardwalk Inn

9:15 AM: hop on a bus to Epcot

9:45 AM: enter Epcot, head straight to Spaceship Earth for first LL

*LLMP 9:40-10:40

10:15 AM: head over to World Discovery for GOTG: Cosmic Rewind
*LLSP 10:15-11:15

10:45 AM: start heading to Mexico, snack and drink on the way
*maybe a drink and snack in Mexico, Norway, or Connections

11:25 AM: Frozen Ever After
*LLMP 11:25-12:25

11:45 AM: keep walking through to America, lunch at Regal Eagle
*I’ve never eaten here so I’m hoping to hit it on this trip!

12:40 PM: The Seas with Nemo and Friends
*LLMP 12:40-1:40

1 PM: Living with the Land, Soarin’
*Ideally I’ll be able to pick up LLs for these, and maybe other attractions, after using our earlier ones. So this plan is subject to change!

2:15 PM: start to make our way to the World Showcase for drinking (& eating!) around the world
*We usually start in Mexico but maybe we’ll switch it up this year :confused3

**The rest of our day is pretty flexible. At some point we might take a break to go check in at the Boardwalk when our rooms are ready, and I’d like to ride Remy’s at some point. Since Epcot and the France Pavilion are so accessible from our resort, it should be easy to hit Remy’s, even if it means popping over towards the end of the night when the line dies down

7-8 PM: Dinner at the park or at an Epcot-area resort. Potential ideas are park QS, Beaches & Cream, Ale & Compass Lounge

9 PM: showtime for Luminous, may or may not watch but I’d like to! Especially since afterwards, we can walk 5 minutes and be right at our resort
____________________________________________________________________________

So those are our Epcot plans! In a perfect world I’ll have our MK itinerary complete and posted tomorrow, and our HS itinerary done the day after that. However, like I mentioned, I have a bunch of class assignments to finish up and Oscar-nominated movies to watch, so we will see. Thank you for reading!

Of the three, Epcot QS and Ale and Compass would be your best bets. It will be tough to get a last minute ADR for Beaches and Cream (and I would think the wait time for a walk-up table, if allowed, would be quite long).

Quick service is fastest, but I wanted to comment in order to plug Ale and Compass. I know you mentioned the lounge, but the it’s easy to get a last-minute booking at the restaurant (we booked one a few hours before we dined there) and the food is EXCELLENT and the restaurant menu is much larger. That place is a hidden gem and was one of our favorite meals last trip. If you do visit A&C (the restaurant or the lounge), the Parker House Rolls are a must - so good!

2/28/25 - Magic Kingdom Itinerary

Hi all! I am back with probably my third(?) to the last post of my pre-trip report! In this post I’ll be covering my very tentative MK plans. It’s really difficult to make any real predictions about MK, due to the amount of rides and the fact that I’m not sure what LLMPs I’ll be able to get for what times. Also, there are extended evening hours until midnight on this day! I’m assuming my group will want to take a midday break at the resort, but we’ll see. With that being said, here are my plans for MK!
____________________________________________________________________________

8:30 AM: wake up, get ready

9:15-9:30 AM: hop on bus to head to MK

9:45 AM: head straight to Adventureland, hop in line for Pirates of the Caribbean

*LLMP for 9:45-10:45

10:15 AM: another attraction, snack/breakfast
*I’d really like to try the cheeseburger spring rolls on this trip, so maybe those!

10:35 AM: it’s a small world (LLMP 10:35-11:35), another attraction or two
*maybe another snack, I’d like to try the ham and gruyere tart at Gaston’s Tavern

11:35 AM: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (LLSP 11:35-12:35), another attraction

12:45 PM: lunch reservation at Skipper Canteen

*I’m really excited for this ADR! I’ve never been here, and I’m not a massive fan of MK’s quick service options. It’ll also be nice to take a little midday break and sit in the AC for lunch, especially since our MK day is supposed to be the hottest of our trip.

1:45 PM: head to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (LLMP 1:55-2:55)

2:15 PM: continue doing attractions around Fantasyland, booking more LLMPs where possible

4:15 PM: Tron Lightcycle Run (LLSP 4:15-5:15)

5 PM: group may want to take a break at the resort. If so, return to park around 7:30 PM and eat while back at resort

*If I’m not feeling a break at the resort, I may just stay in the park to shop around Main Street, go on some rides, eat dinner, etc. I really want one of the Pandora x Disney Princess rings so I may get one in MK

8 PM: Happily Ever After

8:30 PM: shop around Main Street, more attractions (Tomorrowland attractions, ones around the park that we didn’t previously hit)

*We’ll just head back to the resort whenever we feel like it, not sure when that’ll be yet
____________________________________________________________________________

Quick update, this is the first of three updates that I’ll be posting tonight! I am just getting around to wrapping up the PTR as I’ve been spending this week wrapping up some homework assignments, completing last minute errands, etc. that I will be covering in my last post here! My trip officially starts tomorrow :cool1: and I will be up bright and early to head to the airport and catch my flight to MCO! My HS itinerary should be up shortly. Until then, thank you for reading!

That's very good to know, Ale and Compass looks so promising from everything I've seen and heard, so I will not be surprised if we end up there! I'm already hungry thinking about the Parker House Rolls

2/28/25 - Hollywood Studios & Departure Day Itineraries

Hello! I am back exactly 30 minutes after my last post to outline our plans for our Hollywood Studios day and our departure day! After this, I’ll make one more post to tie up loose ends and conclude this PTR. :( I am sad that the planning portion of this trip is coming to an end, but soon I should be back with my TR, so at least I have that to look forward to!

That concludes our plans for our final park day and Disney Springs day! I hope you all enjoyed reading these plans, as I had a lot of fun making them. I will be back shortly for one final post, just to wrap everything up. See you then!

2/28/25 - PTR Wrap Up

Hello for the last time in this PTR! I am here with one final post to talk about the last few days of preparation and conclude the report. This week has been so ridiculously busy for me, mostly with school and work unfortunately. This means that all of my trip-related errands and tasks have been pushed to today, the day before my trip.

It’s currently 9 PM, and I’ve been out all day running around Boston. This morning, I submitted my one last homework assignment that was due before spring break, and then my friend and I headed to Newbury Street to do some shopping. I still needed some warm weather clothes for Disney, since a lot of my summer clothes are at home and not Boston. I got a denim skirt, some other summery clothes, and a ton of jewelry. I don’t typically wear a lot of jewelry (I have 3 pieces that I wear most days), but I’d really like to start wearing more.

After our “fun” clothes shopping, we headed home for lunch and then right back out to Target and Sephora, where I needed a ton of things. A new mascara, a new concealer, lip balm, sunscreen, and hand sanitizer (I love the touchland sprays), are some of the things I got at Sephora. At Target, I needed travel shampoo and conditioner, snacks for the plane, and some other toiletries. After that, we headed back home and I threw my new clothes into the laundry.

As I’m writing this sentence, it is 9:18 and I still have not packed. I am about to as soon as I post this, I already have my list and everything! I am also charging last minute items like MagicBands, portable chargers, headphones, etc. After I pack, I need to eat dinner and clean out the fridge, since I won’t be back for over a week and the last thing I need is to come back to my apartment to rotting food. Finally, I am going to shower and hop right into bed!

I really need to catch up on the last three Oscar Best Picture nominees before Sunday, so I may try to watch Emilia Perez tonight (which I’m not really looking forward to based on everything I know about the director/some of the actors) and download another for the plane tomorrow. I will be up bright and early at 4:45 AM, so I won’t be staying up super late tonight. I also need to be on top of documenting. I'm going to try to use Apple’s Journal app to keep notes during my trip, which includes my travel days. I want my TR to include lots of pictures and step counts!

One final pre-trip plan that never happened was placing an Amazon Fresh order. I was going to order some Red Bulls, water bottles, and snacks to our hotel room, but Fresh delivery is $9.95, which was almost as much as the total cost of our order. I may end up placing an Uber Eats order for these items tomorrow, since I’m an Uber One member, and hopefully I can save some money on delivery fees.

So, I believe that wraps up all the trip-planning loose ends. I cannot believe that this trip arrived so fast, and I know it’s going to go by just as fast, if not faster. I had such a blast planning and writing about our plans, and I hope you enjoyed reading. Thank you so much to everyone that read, it was so nice to have you here and hopefully you’ll have a PTR for me to read in the future, if not right now! Until the TR… goodbye!

Your plans for Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios look great - you did an awesome job getting lightning lanes!

*I’d really like to try the cheeseburger spring rolls on this trip, so maybe those!

YES, me too! I missed these last time and I’m not letting that happen again!

lunch reservation at Summer House on the Lake

I tend to skip Disney Springs and would love to try Homecomin’… but I’m also intrigued by Summer House on the Lake. I’ve heard all good things and would LOVE to try their cookie bar. Their cookies look better to me than Gideon’s (blasphemous, I know).

I hope you were able to eke out your packing without too much trouble and were able to get some sleep. Have an awesome trip!

A couple days late! Your plans look great! I hope you are having an amazing trip! Looking forward to hearing about it!
