Bear attack in yellowstone...double standard?

Why? Because that bear would likely attack again.

And because people are more important than animals. I know that many people don't agree with that statement, but I stand by it.

I know that people do stupid things around wild animals (I've witnessed some really dumb things), but you can't allow a bear that has attacked people - and in this case, unprovoked (at least by those people), to do it again. I love nature, but I would kill the most endangered species in the world if it was going after someone I loved. Or even someone I dont' love .

I wish our country had set aside more land for the wonderful predators we've always had.

I think it's a tragedy all around. I hope they won't have to kill the cubs though.

A campsite whether it's maintained or not in the middle of a bears habitat is still in their back yard.

I know next to nothing about bears and bear habits outside of a few Mutual of Omaha episode so I'm am not a expert.

I definitely think it's sad.

I don't understand any of your arguments. They most certainly do, track and kill nuissance aquatic life. The humans weren't in the bears back-yard, they were camping at a maintained camp-site. The bear came to them, they didn't go roust the bear from its den.

I think it is a 100% disgrace that that bear was killed.

These campers were in bear territory....this group decided to camp, that comes with dangers.
These people were in an area saturated with wildlife and a horrible accident happened. Don't you know there is danger when your camping?

Now you have 3 motherless cubs to be trapped in a zoo the rest of their lives.
If you ever heard the cry of cubs that just lost their mother you were be horrified.
Several years ago we were in Alaska and their we cubs being cared for after their mother was killed it is a cry that haunted me as well as the others on the trip.

I don't think I would be as horrified as I would be if I heard the screams of 3 humans being attacked by a bear. Those people were experienced campers and knew the risks, thats why they took th necessary precautions. If an animal's behavior toward a human is uncharacteristic to that type of animal and it harms or in this case kills a human then it needs to be put down in order to protect other humans. It doesn't make a difference what type of animal it is, whether its wild or a family pet, or whether or not we are in its "backyard" or it comes into ours.
