I need to refill our bean bag chairs. Can anyone recommend a brand of filler that you have used that holds up well? I have looked on amazon and there are so many and have mixed reviews. I would like something that doesn't flatten in a month or so. Thanks so much.

I have been looking around too, DD's bean bag chair is flat. Walmart has two different size beans available and they get decent ratings. I'm interested to see what others have to say.

I would also be interested in what others have to say. DD's bean bag is 2 years old. We splurged on one from PBTeen. I love the washable canvas cover but the beans are a little flat. The inner liner does not have a zipper that opens but I think I can get that replaced easily or may just buy some and enclose in a seperate "pillow" to insert. Don't feel like spending the extra thru PBteen right now.

I was just talking about this with one of my managers today. Her mother makes them and she uses shredded foam. She said she has bean bag chairs from 30yrs ago that are still good as new that are stuffed with shredded foam.

I remember my mom filling ours with foam packing peanuts. Best kind...free!
It was awhile ago, so my memory may not be right, buf I don't remember them packing down or feeling odd.

I bought the refill beads from Walmart lat year for my pottery barn beqn bags. My brother works for the company that makes the beads and said the same company sells to both Pottery Barn and Walmart. I didn't know about the zippered lining, so I cut a hole in the inner lining to add the new beads. I just sewed it up afterward. Then I found the zipper! Duh!

Anyway, I highly recommend the refill beads from Walmart.

I purchased a bean bag cover from a Pottery Barn Outlet for my daughter so last Christmas I was also searching for filler.

On a whim I asked on our local "Freecycle" group if anyone had any old beanbags they were willing to get rid of. I got a response and 2 beanbag chairs. I used the filler with the new cover and my daughter got a great beanbag for Christmas!

Go to www.freecycle.org to find a group near you. It is worth a try!

I looked at the Wal-Mart ones. The one brand is made by Ace Bayou. That is the company that made the bags that we have. We have had them 2 years and they held up pretty well. I think I may go with those. That for the advice.

Unfortunately, beanbag chairs are filled with polystyrene (Styrofoam) and crushes easily with no rebound properties. Fortunately for me, I work in foam beads manufacturing and manufacture expanded polypropylene and polyethylene. I expand a cross-linked polyethylene that has nearly 100% rebound properties and just ask that department to let me know before they scrap anything out (we recycle the polypropylene but not the polyethylene) and grab a garbage bag full to refill the kids' beanbag chairs. :thumbsup2

Cuddle Bags, Lovesacs etc. are filled with little foam chunks, much better than beads, I suggest using foam.

We fill DD's with stuffed animals so that it doubles as storage.

OMG. This is the most brilliant thing I've heard in quite a while!!!

This is what I was going to suggest... then going to say ask for peanuts on Freecycle.

And this works, too...
