Beaches?!

Siesta Key is our home and it takes us 1 1/2 to 2 hrs depending on who is driving to get to WDW.

yep, we live 45 minutes from SK and less than an hour from WDW.

it's a strategic location. SK's our favorite beach in all of Florida.

Thanks Peridochas - Is it only open thru March? We will be there in June - sounds great though!

The area is always open, but the manatees are only there in the winter. I went once in the beginning of April, and the manatees had already left. However, there are springs in the entire area, and many of the springs allow snorkeling. There are other springs like Weeki Wachi and Silver springs that have tourist attractions. In the summer, the springs are refreshing, as they stay at a constant 72.
