Beaches to visit

We will be in DL in a few weeks and would like to take the kids to see the ocean when we are there. What beach would you recommend to visit??

The easiest one to get to from DL will be Huntington Beach. Will you have a car? All you need to do is head west until you hit Beach Blvd. Go south until you see the Pacific Ocean. Easy Peasy! Also the pier area around there has shops and restaurants- a bit touristy, but that isn't necessarily bad if you are a tourist

Yes, Huntington is the closest. I take Harbor to the 22 to Beach. However, a PSA to all the tourists- PCH is 60 in most spots, please drive 60 not slow to 40 to look at the pretty water Tourist season has hit us and I'm seeing so many near deaths out there. Parking at the structure on Main St is your best bet and if you eat at any of the restaurants, they will validate for an hour. With the kids in tow, my kids favorite is Ruby's at the end of the pier. They also participate in the validation.

Huntington Beach is definately the easiest and most tourist friendly. If you're planning a quick trip to the beach from DLR, this is really the best bet.

If you've got a little more time and want to experience a more local flavor, then you can head north to my personal favoriate, Seal Beach. It is more out of the way (about 30-45 minutes to get to the pier and park) and more rustic, but it is still well kept and has plenty to offer.

I'm really referring to the pier area for both locations by the way. If you just want to go to the beach itself and swim in the ocean, then anywhere along Pacific Coast Highway between Huntington Beach and Seal Beach is great.
