Beaches near Homosassa Springs

We are going to be spending the week after Easter visiting the grandparents who are near Homosassa Springs and wonder if there are any good beaches close by without having to go all the way to Clearwater/St. Pete. We would also love to do some shelling. Any help or suggestions would be great.
