Beaches in Southern Ontario that have a dog section?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here knows of any beaches that has a section that allows dogs in the water and on the beach. We have a little dog that we like to bring with us when we head to a provincial park or beach, but we only know of 1 Penetanguishene Provincial Park near Midland. We would like a couple more options though but have had no luck in finding one  I am sure they are out there, I am guessing my googling skills and research skills are not the greatest :)

Does anyone have any suggestions? We would prefer a sandy beach because the dog loves to dig holes and our girls love to play and build as well. We are willing to drive 2 hours in any direction away from Toronto in any direction!

My dog and of course his family would like to say a big thank-you for any suggestions. Thank-you! :)

We have been I going to Sauble Beach every year for the last 20 years and dogs are welcome. I don't believe that you are allowed to sit out on the beach with the dog but you can park right on the beach and the dog can stay near the car....you will need to be there early to get parked(early is before 9:30am). It is acceptable to take the dog in for a short swim. There are signs up that say 'no dogs' but they are ignored. Some people will walk along with their dogs but they are always on leash.

We have taken our dog there many times but since he loves his crate we take it and put it in the back of our van. We back in to park and then set up for the day right behind the van and lift the tailgate. The dog is right there with us. This beach/lake is rather windy so it never gets too hot. Many people do the same but set up dog camp in between their car and the next one. You will also see people with crates and ex-pens in the same areas. I guess the dogs need to be a little bit more in the parking area than really on the the beach.

Port Burwell Provincial Park (on Lake Errie) has an area that is specifically designated a "dog beach".

Just seconding that Pt Burwell is a great beach! We love it there! Very nice sand, and clean.

I'm seconding the dog beach at the Pinery! My family spent a week at a cottage nearby a couple years ago. We went to the dog beach at the Pinery every day, whether we had the dog with us or not. It was a beautiful beach, and never too crowded.

Thank-you all for the recommendations. Looks like we can take our little guy a couple of times then this summer to the beach with the family :)

pt Burwell beach is wonderful, and is, hands down, the best 'dog' beach we've been to. All too often the dog beach is the worst beach area in the park, however at Pt Burwell the dog section is just as big and nice as the rest. The beach there is great for the family - lots of nice sand, lots of place to play etc, and a shallow sandy bottom at the water's edge. We go every year.
