Beaches Family Resorts

We are looking to go to Mexico June 18-23, withouth airfare how much would we have to spend to get a nice vacation, looking at either Cancun or Riveria Maya???? I am seeing 1200.00-2900.00 HELP PLEASE, I saw some people talke about Iberostar, they are the most expensive around 2500.00-2900.00
Thanks

As far as beaches, I have not been, but my co-worker did last fall. She came back complaining that it was dirty and the food was horrible. I remember researching Beaches when I was planning the Mayan Riveria trip and it just had really mixed reviews on tripadvisor. The Iberostar reviews have consistently high reviews, and after visiting, I can see why.

See everyones opinions are different.
Because as I said before, this was definetly our experience in Mexico. The beach was so bad I wouldn't even want my kids digging in that sand afraid of what they may find.

We have made 7 total trips to Sandals and Beaches plus made 2 day trips to Beaches Negril and we have always had good experiences. Our last trip to Turks and Caicos was only a few months after they were hit with a hurricane. And yes the beach was smaller and not as nice , as in big. But it was still well-kept and free of debri.

I agree the Sandals and Beaches resorts are the best but I don't think Americans are aloud to Sandals Cuba:confused3 . I think becuase your from canada you can go Cuba. Also not sure if there is a Beaches there. I would definately like to skip Disney one year and go to Beaches instead.

Sorry about the Cuba thing - I forgot! :confused3

As far as the Mexico trip goes, i would choose Mayan Riviera (Playa del Carmen) over Cancun any day - I have been to both and find Cancun to be more like Miami - strips of hotels, thongs, partying teenagers where PDC is more laid back and seems to cater to families, honeymooners and the older crowd. There is partying there too - just a different scene.

Try the Palladium, if I went back that would be my choice, they are "Family of 5 Friendly" so you don't need to get a 2nd room which is a huge savings and everyone who has been there seems to love it and the food.

We stayed at the Gala Beach and by the 3rd day we were going to McDonalds to eat because the food was not good, and then DH was very sick from some so-called steak on night #4. Everyone we spoke to at our resort that week was less than thrilled with the dining, edible, yes but not close to 3 stars and it was supposed to be 5. So if you consider it - don't. ;)

We went to Riveria Mayaand stayed at an Iberostar in mid June. Last year the price was great so we want to go back this year and now it's $1,000 more for the same week!!!

I'm looking around to stay somewhere else. Try www.tripadvisor.com
