Tell me about Beaches & Cream, I always hear great reviews about it and what is the Kitchen Sink?

Here is a thread where people shared pictures of the Kitchen Sink:

Here is another thread about B&C:

It is a cute little ice cream shop with burgers and sandwiches, but it is small and if you go at peak time it is hard get in. The menu is posted on Deb's Allears.net website:

We are hoping to visit it again in June when we are there. My family likes it.

If you want a good burger or shake, do Beaches and Cream. That's what they are known for :) Actually, any ice cream concoction from B&C is pretty darn good! As for the Kitchen Sink...it is quite literally a kitchen sink. And it is filled with every flavor of ice cream they serve and has loads and loads of toppings. Just to give you an idea of how big it is...during our last trip there I ordered it to share with my mom, dad, and best friend. And between the 4 of us we still couldn't finish it! It's huge. So if you're gonna do the Kitchen Sink you definately need to share with at least 4-5 other people. But it's fun because when they bring it out to you they make a big deal of it, they lower the lights and put a spotlight on your table. It's lots of fun :)

We always enjoy B&C. Sometimes we like to sit at the counter and watch them make all of the ice cream concoctions. It does get busy at popular meal times. We try to get there around 2:00 and have never had a problem getting seated.

Thanks: You answered one question before I asked it. I was wondering a good time to go, and not have to wait for a long time.

My other question is: Can you ask them not to make a big deal out of it? My 6 Y.O. is drooling over the pictures, but will be mortified to the point of tears, if the servers have everybody looking at her. Maybe I should steer her in the direction of the smaller sundaes. They look good too, and the 4 of us, could prob. split 2. She hates to be sung to for her birthday, at restaurants too. Loves charcter meals though. Can't figure her out sometimes.

Also: Can you walk to Beaches and Cream, from the International gateway at Epcot. If so, can you point me in the right direction?

I'm sure you could ask them to not make a big deal out of the Kitchen Sink thing but it's so big that people look at you anyway. lol So you may want to stick with individual sundaes if that's the case with your DD. Yes you can get to B&C from Epcot. You take the path from where the friendship boats (or ferries rather) dock, and follow it back until you hit the Beach Club. I cannot for the life of me remember exactly how to get to B&C from that point but I can tell you that it is located right by Stormalong Bay which is the big pool area at Beach Club. Sorry I can't be exact. I should know better since BCV is our home resort but I'm currently having a brain freeze :earboy2:

If your DD is upset by attention, I would recommend not getting the kitchen sink. Even if you talked to the server and asked them to downplay it, just the sight of it will draw lots of attention, and probably lots of comments, from the other diners.

Our family of four split two sundaes and had more than we could finish. We had a No Way Jose and a Fudge Mud Slide. They were both absolutely heavenly.

Thanks for the replies. I think we will go for the other sundaes, or maybe someone will order one, and she can see what they do, and decide if she would like that. Like I said, I just don't get it sometimes. She hates for attention to be drawn to her, but is very outgoing as long as it is on her terms. Sometimes I just shake my head, and wonder.

Thanks again

My niece is the same way. She is very outgoing and will talk to pretty much anyone. But, we were in WDW for her bday last year, we went to Boatwrights at POR and as soon as they came out with the cake and a group of people, she started to cry. We felt so awful. ::MickeyMo

I never liked attention like that when I was a kid either, especially if it were a surprise. Maybe if you talked with her about it and ask her what she thinks and if she thinks it would be fun for the family. I always handled things better when *I* decided on what to do.

I remember in 3rd grade my mom planned this BIG surprise party for me for my birthday. I feel so bad now, but when I walked in and everyone shouted at me, I turned around and ran away and locked myself in our car! My cousin and sister came out and pounded on the windows telling me to get out and come inside. It was my WORSE birthday party ever, but probably the MOST work my mother ever put into a birthday party (needless to say, I never had another surprise birthday party :wizard: ).

Maybe you can explain to her what they do with the Kitchen Sink and let her decide if she wants the attention or not. And that way if she says no you can just order the smaller ones :) Have a wonderful trip! :wizard:
