OK, I have done all my disney planning and have evidently made a boo boo!!!

We are DVC members but will not be using our points this year on our trip as we have booked 2 weeks with the free disney dining plan offer. I thought that as a DVC member we could pool hop, however we have now found out that we are not allowed to unless we are using our points to stay! ooopps!!!

My mum loves the boardwalk so we were planning to spend an evening here, just having a wander and soaking up the atmosphere, we looked at the restaurants available on the DDP at boardwalk and were not that impressed, flying fish cafe is 2 credits, and we won't have any spare, we weren't huge fans of ESPN, kouzina's menus is not for us which only leaves the big brewing works, which didn't really excite us either. We do however really like the bakery here which is a counter service place, so we thought we would use this. We therefor would have a table service credit to use in the day. We were planning a relaxed pool day anyway, so we thought we might use the pool at the boardwalk and then go over to beaches and cream for a late lunch at the beach club. there is normally a long wait for a table here so thought would just go over in our swim stuff and chill out outside there and then go back to the boardwalks pool for a couple more hours.

We are staying at SSR so we would be pool hopping to the boardwalks, as I said, I thought we would be ok to do this, being DVC members!! We wouldn't really want to get a bus all the way to the beach club just for lunch when it is our relaxed day, we would want to have the ice creamy lunch as part of this relaxed day, not as a 2 hour segway out of it, if you know what I mean.
we would be happy enough at our resort pool, but we wouldn't want a full restaurant style meal for lunch so wouldn't want to eat at the resort restaurant, its a bit too stuffy and too big a meal, the ice cream would just have been perfect!!

all our other days are sorted and we have used our other credits. similar to this situation we aren't really breakfast or lunch ppl, we only realy like restaurant meals for dinner.

any advice on how we can try to sort this out???

Hang out at SSR during the day.

You should try the Captain's Grille at the YC for your TS meal at dinner time. We tried it first time in December and had a great meal and great service. Then afterwards, go over to the Boardwalk and watch the entertainment.

I second the PP advice, Hang out at SSR for the day and try the Captains Grill at the YC for dinner, then head over to the Boardwalk.
Do you have plans for a DTD night. If not, maybe there instead of the Boardwalk and try Raglan Road. It is great.

Hang out at the pool at SSR. Walk over to Earl of Sandwich for Lunch then over to Ghiradelli's for ice cream. Don't remember exactly, but there is either a DVC or AP discount at Ghiradelli's.

Since you know that you can't pool hop, I agree that you should stay at SSR and enjoy the pool there. When it's time for lunch, I agree with a PP, you're close to DTD so go to the Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck Express and then to Ghirardelli's for great ice cream.

How exactly would they know you weren't staying on points?

I know you can't use SAB unless you are staying at BCV but I can't imagine using either of the pools at the Boardwalk or the quiet pool at BCV would be a problem.

I say go and use quiet pool at BCV and then go to Beaches and Cream.

The KTTW cards boldly state DVC Member if using points; its not there on regular guests' cards. SSR has such great pools, I don't know why anyone would choose to use the BC quiet pool instead.

I don't think pool hopping to SAB is allowed even if you are staying on DVC points. Thought I'd read that somewhere....

That is correct, it is not allowed. However, that doesn't mean it never happens...and in fact does much more than many here realize. Or put another way, the gatekeeping/wristbanding operation at SAB isn't nearly as tight as it's cracked up to be, so "interlopers" are regularly present.
