The thumbs down is not because we could not get the kitchen sink or because we could not get an additional side or because we could not.................you get the point.
Here's the report:
Last Tuesday we went to B&C and had 2 Quick and Casual lunch vouchers. We arrived around 3:45 and we were seated immediately. When we sat down, I placed the vouchers on the table so the server would know that we would be using them. I asked the tall blond woman what we could have for a drink with the vouchers. She rolled her eyes and said "anything". I knew DH would order a beer, so that left DS and I to use the drink portions of the vouchers for ourselves. DS ordered a rootbeer float and I ordered a vanilla coke. She set the drinks down so hard they clunked on the table. Then she very abruptly asked "what do you want?" DH is a restaurant manager and I've waited tables for 15 years, so I know how a server should act, and this was not it. We would have gotten better service from a truck stop waitress at this point. I didn't say anything to DH, because I thought maybe it was just me. DH and I both ordered the prime rib sub and I said that DS and I would split mine. She immediately left the table before I could ask about substituting the chickenless ceaser salad for the fries. The waitress had 2 other tables and she was perfectly disney nice to them. One table had a woman in a wheelchair and the waitress bent over backwards to help the woman. It was at that point that I asked DH if her treatment towards us was my imagination or not. He said that he felt the same way as I did. When she brought the food, she served it the same way as she did the drinks, with a clunk on the table and then running off. We didn't see her for 20 minutes after that, not even at her other tables. When we were finished with our food, DS and I ordered the No Way Jose and the Mud Slide. After paying for DH's beer, I asked another server for the manager. Something I have never done at Diseny before. George came to our table and I told him what had happened. I asked if it was because of the way we were dressed (DH is very biker looking. Ok, he owns a Harley, too, but his is a VERY easy going guy) or if it was the vouchers. He was suprised to hear about our experience. I told him that we had eaten there many times before and I had 2 more vouchers I was planning on using later in the week. He seemed sincere about the problems and said he would talk to the waitress. I also mentioned that we would not be tipping the waitress for the beer. I felt that the tip she was getting with the vouchers was far more than what we would have tipped her if we were using our room key. He understood. (I've never done that at Disney! I've probably only left a penny tip 3 or 4 times in my entire life)
We never did make it back and DH does not want to go back, ever. I don't blame him, but I wanted to use those vouchers. It really blew our food budget by going elsewhere to eat. We had used the Kingdom lunch vouchers (the $29.50 one) at RFC at AK and was treated like any other guest. Service was GREAT! We got an explination any time we had a question and the server hung around for our questions.
As reported by someone else, the steak sub was a bit on the dry side. A little mustard fixed the problem, but ranch dressing would have been better. (no way to ask for any, though, our server was MIA) BUT, it was VERY tender. I usually have to eat steak sandwiches with a knife and fork. I was impressed with the sandwich's taste. There was just enough onions, peppers and cheese to flavor and not overpower. The desserts were really good, too. (how can you mess up icecream? LOL) In hind sight, I don't think I would have let DS get a float and icecream again. When the server said we could have anything, DS jumped in and said a float. I wasn't thinking and agreed to it. (bad mommy) All in all, the food was good, but not the service.
The totals:
vanilla coke $2.28
rootbeer float 4.99
2 primerib subs 21.98
No Way Jose 7.99
Mudslide 7.99
Total 45.23
- 2 vouchers 22.00
----------
savings 23.23
