Hi everyone.. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the easiest way to get to Beaches and Cream from Magic Kingdom?? I know this is probably a dumb question but this is our first time to Disney..
Can anyone go there? I saw pictures of some of their huge desserts and I would die for one.. Also, how are the prices on the huge sundaes??
Thanks everyone!

Yes anyone can go there. If you are using Disney transportation just get on the bus for the Yacht and Beach Club from the MK bus stop (to the far left of the MK turnstiles when exiting the park). You can get off at either the Yacht or the Beach side it is about the same distance. Go into the hotel lobby and head out towards the pool. Beaches and Cream is on the back walk way about half way between the Yacht and Beach (if you enter through the Yacht you would go out and go left...enter through the Beach go out and go right).

I don't remember the pricing, but I know they are fairly reasonable (in Disney standard) :)

Thanks allot.. But actually we will have a rental car since we are staying off property.. So could we also take the same way you listed with our own car?? Or do we need to go another way?
Thanks again.

You can drive there as well, when you exit MK just follow the signs to Epcot Resorts (not Epcot...Epcot Resorts, I want to say it is the exit AFTER the actual Epcot exit). From there follow the signs to Yacht and Beach Club (You can make the left by the Swan/Dolphin or if you pass that just go up one more light and make the left at the Boardwalk, the road is a horseshoe). You can park at either resort (Yacht or Beach), just drive up to the security kiosk and advise them you are going to Beaches and Cream and they will tell you where to park...sometimes you can park in the main lot, other times they have you park across the street (depends on how busy they are)...or you could Valet (for $7).

Wow, thanks allot, you know your stuff! Thanks I really appreciate it!

If you don't know, the shop is TINY and waits can be really long. We waited twenty minutes for a table at 4:00 in the afternoon, and another 10 before a waitress took our order. So don't plan on this being a quick stop.

The other warning is there is no way you can go here without exposing your kids to Storm Along Bay, the incrediable Yacht and Beach Club pool. Which means that the $7 sundae could cost you $300+ a night on your next trip when the kids want to use the pool!

Since you will be in the MK, consider the Plaza Reastaurant for great ice cream treats. It is just off Main Street to the right as you face the castle. B&C is very small, a hassle to get to unless you have another reason to be at Y&BC and I bet the ice cream is the same. ;)

I have to disagree there, just my opinion of course. I love the Plaza for food (they have the best salad)...but I don't think their ice cream compares to Beaches and Cream at all... B&C has the best sundaes and where else can you get the Kitchen Sink? Yes Beaches is smaller, but it is worth the wait, if there is one.

where else can you get the Kitchen Sink?

At Colonial restaurants in the far Western suburbs of Chicago. ;) Those restaurants have been serving kitchen sinks for at least 26 years...probably much longer.

Of course it is 18 degrees here right now so a kitchen sink at B&C sounds better. :sunny:

I didn't think the ice cream worth going out of my way for - Ghiradelli's was better. But other people do. If you have to do it, the best best might be to do it on an Epcot day, its only a five minute walk out the back door of Epcot. That way, you don't invest nearly the amount of time if it turns out to be disappointing.

Prices for the desserts are:
Old Fashioned Sundae...two scoops $5.99, Three Scoops $7.99, one topping, every extra topping .99 cents each

all others are $7.99

Then there's the huge Kitchen Sink....with Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Coffee and Mint Chocolate chip ice cream smothered in every topping they have...$21.99

Oooo... Forgot about them... Way better...And easier to access. Oh now I want the Foghorn from Ghiradelli :(

I don't know when you're going, but we went this past Wednesday and they were closed. They are repainting the inside.

We had to walk over to the Yacht Club Galley. They have some of Beaches n Cream's favorites on their menu, including some of the desserts.

We were able to use our Quick & Casual Vouchers.

I can't remember how long the rehab is going to take, sorry.

Thanks everyone!
Ok, so now where is Ghiradelli at, and how do I get there from MK???
Oh, such choices! HUH!
We are actaully going to be there the last week in April, so I am trying to get some what of a "plan" together..
Thanks everyone!

It's in Downtown Disney at the Marketplace. You would need to drive or go to a resort and take a bus.

As you exit the MK parking lot follow the signs to Downtown Disney... As you come up to DTD you are going to go to the far end, The Marketplace... So once you see the Cirque Du Soleil building, it is the 5th light I believe (they are all one right after the other)... Turn left into the parking lot after Pleasure Island (across from Disney Casting)... This is the parking lot in front of World of Disney. Ghiradelli is along the lake across from World of Disney (on the right side of WOD when walking in from the parking lot)... They have GREAT sundaes....

Here is the thing to keep in mind - Disney is 51 square miles. You will have a limited amount of time. Travel time is time not spent seeing WDW (with the possible exception of taking the monorail). A trip from the MK to get ice cream at either Ghiradelli's or B&C will involve a 40+ minute trip (it isn't easy to come and go from the MK). If you want to return, it will be 40+ minutes back to the MK. You can easily spend 2 hours getting a sundae. Now you may say "so what" - everyone has different priorities and chooses to spend their time in different ways and if you are a huge ice cream fan, maybe this is worthwhile to you.
I'm telling you this because its your first trip and sometimes people have unrealistic expectations about how easy it will be to get around and how much they'll be able to accomplish in a week. Disney is about the size of Manhattan, which means you have to say "would you go across town in NYC to get ice cream." (Granted, less traffic at WDW).

It only after this last trip - the third week long trip in six years - that we'd have made that sort of time for ice cream (then again, we aren't huge ice cream fans), previous trips didn't leave us two hours with everything else we really wanted to do - in fact, most previous trips we've left things undone that we would have liked to do. We did make it to both B&C and Ghiradelli last trip - B&C because we stayed across the lake at BW and went the day we arrived and Ghiradelli after seeing the first Cirque show, so both times it was convienent - and both times it still took about a half an hour longer to GET ice cream than I expected (a wait to be seated at B&C, a line out the door at Ghiradelli).

Thanks eveyone.. Thanks for the directions too.. Actually we will spend the whole day at MK.. But we have 5 more days that we will not be at any Disney resort, so those days will be just doing other things, and relaxing.. So we would have time to go to B&C or Ghiradelli..
But thanks for letting me know how time consuming it is..
Thanks again everyone..
