Beaches and Cream good?

I’ve never been to Beaches and Cream and was thinking of doing it for dinner one night on my upcoming trip. Is the food good? We are planning to do a lot of character dining where food is usually meh but doing it for the baby. Would like one meal where the food is tasty lol.

I don’t think any fine dining because we’ve finally gotten our baby to a good sleep schedule going to bed early and I don’t want to be a dinner for 2 hours. We’ll be staying at the Boardwalk so figured this would be good. But I’d like something that has good tasting food. Is this a good option?

IMO, Beaches & Cream is no better or worse than a typical Friendly's, especially since its expansion which took away some of its charm.

Thanks, not sure what to do for this dinner. I feel like most of the fine dining ones are where the food is good but can take forever and my baby just won’t like being at dinner that long

Most fine dining experiences are going to be relatively slow since it's as much about the experience as the food.

Depending on what you're looking for, outside at the Big River Grille is an option. For my spouse and I, sometimes a burger and a beer hits the spot.



They have other food options. Perhaps you can find something on their menu that appeals to you?

Sandwiches, soups and burgers are great. I think of it as comfort food. We always try to reserve a meal when we are staying at BCV.

Sometimes it's hard to get an ADR for Beaches & Cream. Check out the Fountain at the Dolphin. Similar menu, no reservation required. But I don't know where the line is for you between "good" and "meh."

No, the food at B&C is not good, IMHO. The sundaes are great! I would recommend Trattoria al Forno or Ale & Compass. The food will be better than B&C and it won't take 2 hours to dine. If you want to walk over to the Swan, Il Mulino is very good and that really doesn't take long either.

Ya I’ve heard it’s a hard one so I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the effort to try and get. I like a lot of the restaurants at Disney but find most of the food at the character dinners just meh. Only one I really like is topolinos. But my baby loves the characters so doing them for her.

B&C has been a favourite of ours, but our last trip in April really disappointed. I always thought it was a reasonably priced dinner, and their milkshakes are great, but our last trip the food was terrible. The quality seemed to be far worse than we experienced in past trips.

Sadly, I would say skip it; get some ice cream at the to-go counter but I’d avoid a meal there.

The food at Beaches and Cream is fine, but it's nothing special - burgers, sandwiches, typical diner food. The sundaes are great, but you can get those at the walk up window. We used to eat there a lot because my son loved it when he was younger. For us it was one of those places we chose for our son, not for us and it sounds as if you are wanting to get away from that, understandably.

It that area, we've enjoyed Ale and Compass and Il Mulino in the past and I've heard great things about Trattoria Al Forno lately. While Flying Fish was closed, the chef took over Trattoria and supposedly really improved it - even though he's back at Flying Fish now.

The Tomato soup is ok. Not as good as Primo Piatto or Gasparilla... Next job is to compare the Tomato Soup at Boardwalk Deli.

One of my spouse’s favorites was the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich from the Boardwalk Bakery.

Presumably, it’s the same at the new Boardwalk Deli (which replaced the Bakery). And, for Disney, the price is great!

If the weather is nice, grab a table outside and relax by Crescent Lake with a yummy sandwich!

I would order a sunday from the window after a meal at Ale and Compass, Trattoria al Forno or Amare.

We've had good lunches there and will go back again, but feel it's overrated. I don't understand why it's fully booked by 60+3.

A word of warning, it can be very loud, they pack a lot of people in, even with the expanded layout.

We think the Fountain at the Dolphin is just as good, including for ice cream, and we can usually walk right in.

Thank you everyone! I think I’m going to look into one of the other restaurants in the boardwalk area instead. Ale and Compass menu and trattoria menus look good. Any preference of one over the other?

Haven't done Ale & Compass but we have really enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at Trattoria and have reservations there again on our upcoming trip. As others have said, our family (husband, myself, and kids 5Y & 18 months) would pick the food at Trattoria over B&C, and the meal will take about the same amount of time. With a toddler, an outdoor table on the Boardwalk offers a lot of great distractions from being buckled into a high chair, too!

It's all fine, not great. It's a lot of sandwiches and burgers, and I believe the ice cream used to be Edy's, not sure what it is now but it's most likely another common brand.
