Beach & Yacht Stormalong Bay Work Jan-April 09

i saw a post on one of the sites that talked about work being done on Stormalong Bay early next year.

Does anyone know the specifics of whats being done? Is it going to be completely shut down during this time?

I should probably just ask my guide but i was wondering if anyone on here knew.

Not completely shut down.......Disney's going to renovate in phases. From the letter......Beginning Jan 5th three sections of the pool will be closed. All work should be completed by late March 2009. The first section, including flying jib slide and pool area, is scheduled to be completed by mid Feb. The second section, including the Quiet Lagoon and Storm A Long bay kiddie pool, is scheduled to be done by late March. During the refurbishment period, Dunes Cove Pool, Tidal Pool, Admiral Pool will be available. Also Luna Park pool at the BWV will be available for BCV use.

I would assume that those staying at the BCV between 1/5 and March got a letter. According to this letter there are no changes just renovations of the existing pools and structures.

I got the letter, about a week after I moved our late March reservation from BWV.

I got a letter late last week. DD and I figure we'll be there either when they are doing the slide or the lazy river depending on the timing of the first and second phases. A little disappointed but that time of year we weren't planning on spending major time at the pool anyhow. We figure we'll get to say we finally stayed at the Beach Club and tried Stormalong Bay at least. The letter seemed to me to say that they are just refurbishing and renovating, no major changes.

Given the size of the area, they aren't even going to try to post dates for each area of the pool. When they are done with one section it will re-open and they will move on to something else. Even the completion date is somewhat in flux; the info quoted above states late-March but other official Disney outlets have cited April 15th. Since Easter is April 12th, I have a feeling they will shoot for the late-March timeframe.

It's just a preventive maintenance rehab. Painting....repairs...that sort of thing.

What section is the quiet lagoon? We are staying March29th-April 3rd... I am concerned mainly about the big slide and sand bottom area.
