So we are taking our first real extended beach trip this May -we've stayed a night here and there at the beach but it's never been our main focus of a trip before...So I'm wondering what all I should get for the kids to play with on the beach and in the water - boys ages 7 and 11. Suggestions??

It depends on the type of beach (low key vs boardwalk or lots of other kids vs lots of personal space). It also depends on the type of kids you have (active/builder/bookish). If they like to build, then more "grown up" type sand toys like the ones that make bricks would be fun. If they are active, sport stuff and boogie boards. A bookish kid would be happy sitting in a chair and reading. If you expect there will be a lot of other kids, perhaps some sort of game with a soft ball and rackets. Google beach games for kids. That will give you a lot of ideas for border busters if you need it.
