We leave in 5 days for a week at HHI. Do we need to pack a large beach towel for each person or are there sufficiently large enough towels to be used at the beach which are provided by the resort? Thanks.....

If you want a large towel to spread out on the beach, you'll need to bring your own.

HH does provide pool towels- both at the main pool and also at the Beachhouse pool- many do take those down to the beach- but they are bath towel size.

We always take one to the beach to dry off before walking back up to the pool area and return it to the towel return bin. Each evening there are a number of these towels left on the beach and the CM's have to go retrieve them, but no mention has been made that it's a problem thus far (it sure seems like it would be a concern though).

Have a great stay!

We bring our own large beach towels for the beach. There are towels available at the beach house pool, but they are for use at the pool and they have a sign up saying one per guest. I prefer a nice colorful beach towel anyway. We will be there in 20 days!

There was a time, a few years ago, when the beach house pool was constantly out of towels. This was when the resort GM still met with members following the "Behind the Ears" tour, and someone took that opportunity to ask him about that problem.

He said that a lot of it was due to people bringing the pool towels down to the beach and leaving them there. I don't remember the exact numbers, but he did say that they lost a LOT of them each day. Guess where the money to replace those towels comes from?????

Anyhow, as been mentioned, the towels are not really "beach" sized. We always bring a blanket to stretch out on (unless we have our beach chairs) and a regular beach towel to dry off with.

We are flying and were hoping to reduce the number of things we need to bring with us but it doesn't sound like the towels are one of the things we'll want to leave behind. Thank you all for your replies.

I do not know why it is such a problem for people to put towels away. It is even worse at the pool. It is the same people who do not put shopping carts back in the coral.

If DVC got rid of towels then there would be no more problems finding chairs, but room towels would get gone.

I wish they would check out and in towels and charge when not returned.

Are there chairs provided that you can use on the beach, or can you rent those on a daily basis from someone?

The beach lifeguards (they are not Disney CM's) run the beach chair/umbrella business and also rent out beach equipment.

They have daily and weekly rates. Many have found it practical to buy an inexpensive beach chair at the HH Wal Mart and just leave it when they leave.

Enjoy!

We used a light weight blanket under the towels at the beach. It's called a Neat Sheet. It almost feels like a study paper towel. I bought it at my grocery store for about $4.99. It was wonderful because the sand did not stick to it.
