beach part of enocounter cancelled

Hi,
I recieved a call last night form DCL. I booked the dolphin encounter for our Dec 26th cruise. They said bc of hurricane damage the beach part of the excursion will be canceled. The encounter will still go on. The good news is I got a reduction in price. I'm not too disappointed as I wanted to spend more time on the ship. Will I miss the beach part? I booked this cruise last oct and I can't believe its almost here.

Is this the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau? We have booked for our January 23 cruise and have not heard anything from Disney. Did they mention if this was short term?

Yes it was for the beach part of the encounter in Nassau. They didn't mention how long they thought this would be a problem. I guess as you get closer you can call. They didn't say how bad it was. You are sailing a month after me, so maybe by that time it will be ok. BTW, the encounter is still going to happen, it's just the beach part of it , that they cancelled. I am still happy that my kids can do the encounter. I would've been very dissappointed if this was cancelled.

As long as we can interact with the dolphins my kids will still be happy and maybe we can do more exploring of Nassau. This encounter was quite the family debate. 1/2 of us wanted to swim with the stingrays but the dolphins won out!

when we were in Nassau last week the beach part of the Atlantis excursion was also removed from the excursion..... Don't know how long it's going to last.

Are all of these cancellations just recently or have they been since the hurricanes? They were 3 months ago and it seems odd to start cancelling excursions now.

Anyone who has cruised since the hurricanes - any insight?

DH just got off the phone with CM checking on the Atlantis Beach Day Excursion and they said our excursion is as planned - no changes. I'm looking forward to putting my toes in the sand. I wonder why it was cancelled recently.

We sail in 12 days!!! Can't wait!!!
