going on wonder on jan 16th. have infant and would like to show my older child nassau beaches. I am afraid the shore excursion beach trip will be too long for infant and it is kind-of pricey (we live at beach in FL). Any one know of a place that we could go via taxi or something on our own, just to give the 7 year old an idea of what nassau beaches look like and the culture of the bahamas without dragging an infant around for hours? any suggestions appreciated.

We went to a public beach on Pardise Island near Atlantis casino. We just asked the taxi driver to take us to a beach....and that's the one he took us to. However I wouldn't really recomend it. The waves were hard...and the water deep. After just two steps in...we were waste deep. Not good for little ones. Our 11dd and 7yo dd...didn't care for it to much. They could have played for hours on the beach in the sand (it was soooo diffrent from what we are use to)...but the water wasn't real do able. I've heard of other beaches the other direction...not on Paradise Island...but near some hotels/resorts. Sounds like some place to check out...I wish I could remember the name. Is there a Windham on Nassau??...Maybe it's cable beach that I'm thinking of. There is also the island out past Paradise island...that may be worth checking out. I know the dolphin discovery is out that direction. Good luck

I've been to many beaches in the Bahamas and I think Blue Lagoon Island is the best. If I were you, I'd give it a try, even though it's more expensive than having a taxi take you somewhere. At Blue Lagoon, there are many shady areas where your baby can snooze while the older kids play either in shallow or deeper water. As I recall (but check this out), there are several times during the day that you can return to the ship-- you don't have to stay the entire day. And the good thing about an excursion is that Disney takes care of the logistics, which is just one more thing you may not want to deal worry about.

Here's more I found on the www

"Blue Lagoon Island Nassau Bahamas offers the most unforgettable encounters and captivating experiences; you have the opportunity to enjoy complete relaxation, magnificent vistas, or exhilarating adventure. Escape to Blue Lagoon Island and see the white sandy beaches and clear waters that made the Bahamas legendary.

Amenities are abundant on Blue Lagoon Island; there are gift shops, changing rooms, fresh water showers, and the Sea Garden Grill restaurant. Live entertainment sets the mood while on the island. For those of you who have relaxation in mind, why not lounge in one of the many double hammocks or take a historic nature walk."
