beach house rental ?

I am considering a beach house rental for next summer. I was thinking outer banks or myrtle beach or northern fla atlantic coast. I have never done this before. Any suggestions for a reputable rental co or a good area to stay would be appreciated.

I go to the OBX every year and love it. But I go in the off season. We go to Frisco, NC which is almost the very tip of Hatteras near Ocracoke. Quiet, clean beaches, friendly, safe, etc. We use Midgett realty.

We rented a few times in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Haven't gone in many years now, and sometimes I really miss it! We rented in the Rodanthe/Waves/Salvo area, and used either Outer Beaches Reality or Surf or Sound Reality. Both were fine.

Another vote for Hatteras Island. We're on our way there in 10days. I've rented from
midgett. outerbeaches and surf or sound. All three have been mentioned already and all 3 are good. When near Myrtle Beach, we go to Garden City and rent from Dunes Realty but we prefer Hatteras, the National Park keeps it more remote and beautiful. If you truly want an "oceanfront" home, Rodanthe or Waves have the lowest dunes right now with the best views.

Another vote for Dunes Realty. They have some nice houses for rent around Surfside, Garden City, Georgetown, or Pawleys Island. We usually stay in Surfside. My mom owns a house in Surfside in Oceanside Villiage.

Just so you know, I love OBX. But when you go down toward Frisco there isn't alot to do other then beach. You can go to the beach, fish, surf, sit on your deck,etc. There are some restaurants, a mini golf place, go-carts, and Ocracoke Island to visit. I like that kind of vacation but some would find it too slow. We pick Frisco because they have a fishing pier and the town is so narrow it's nearly impossible to get a house far from the ocean. We generally pick a house 1-3 houses back and those all have ocean views and big beautiful decks.

We just got back from OBX. We stayed in Nags Head, mostly because, as Tiggeroo mentioned, some of the more remote areas were too quiet for our tastes. We used Sun Realty (www.sunrealtync.com) for our rental, a 5 bedroom house across the street from the beach.
