Anyone recall getting an upgrade from a Standard View at the Beach Club, ever?

We have been VERY lucky. We've been upgraded 2 out of 3 times at the BC. All times we booked standard view. One time we were upgraded to a 2 BR suite!!! The other time to Water view. Good luck!!

Last year we booked at "standard view". We were pleasantly surprised at check in when we were upgraded to water view. It was something that was totally unexpected and greatly appreciated.

Just stayed there last week, didn't get upgraded from standard but we were very happy with our view of Illuminations! We were right behind the UK.

Have been upgraded to Club Level once, then this past January we were upgraded to a suite overlooking the quiet pool.

Last year was our first time to book standard view instead of water view or concierge. At check-in, we were upgraded from BC standard view to a water view room at YC with a wonderful view.

WOW. thanks everyone for replying. Seems like everyone here has had some of that magical pixie dust at checkin. Maybe we can get lucky, too, that sure would be a pleasant suprise. Someone mentioned Nantucket Suite....hmmm how nice is that, what are the layouts?

I don't want to be the voice of doom and gloom, but I'd just caution you not to get your hopes up too high. I've never been upgraded at check-in. True, I've had just 4 trips to WDW and some of these posters have had dozens. Maybe it's an odds game. That said, I'm never disappointed to get what I've paid for.

We've been over 50 times since DS17 and DD16 were little and never been upgraded.... you'd think after all that money I've given them, one day I'd be lucky!!! Just kidding though. I always book a room I'm happy with and don't expect anything any different. If I'm expecting more, I'll pay more. Well, unless that Castle stay is still open....

I do have to say that the BC sure is !!! I love to stay there!!!

I don't want to be a downer, either, but I think you're getting your hopes up awfully high based on a few posts.

It's the way you phrased your question....you asked for people who got upgrades to post. So, the only people who replied were the ones who got upgrades. That makes it seem like everyone who stays at BC gets an upgrade, and we know that's not likely.

I think if you put up a poll, and asked folks whether or not they got an upgrade at BC, you'd see a very different picture. Only a very small percentage of guests get upgrades. It's much less common than it appears on these boards, mostly because people who got the room category they paid for don't bother to post and announce that.

Again, I don't want to bring you down, but it'd be kind of mean to let you go to WDW thinking you're getting the Nantucket Suite for the price of a standard view. Sure, anything can happen, but that kind of upgrade would be unbelievably, extraordinarily rare, and was probably due to a maintenance issue.

My answer to the post regarding getting upgraded does represent the only time in 8 trips we have been upgraded at a WDW resort. We have always booked our room views not expecting or asking for an upgrade. Of course, this was the only time we had booked standard view and we were thrilled with our pixie dust and upgrade to a wonderful water view. So, I say you never know maybe you will get a little magic, but just don't expect it!

We have been upgraded a twice at the Beach Club. Once simply because we asked if we had a full balcony and the person shecking us in said no adn poked around a bit until he came up with a room with the full balcony which happened to be a water view.

Keep in mind that there are many wonderful views from a standard room. One of the best is just behind the UK in Epcot. You have a wonderful view of Illuminations!

My husband and I booked a standard room for our last minute, end of January trip. This was our first trip to the Beach Club (and our first trip without kids) and I was not expecting an upgrade - hoping, but not expecting. We were pleasantly surprised when we did get upgraded to a waterview room with a full balcony. I don't think you will go wrong with the Beach Club whether you get an upgrade or not. It was a beautiful resort and we loved the location.

Not the BC, but the YC. We booked standard, got upgraded to lagoon view. Ah....so nice. We met a family on the bus later in the week that was upgraded to concierge level, so didn't feel so special anymore.

Well...we just returned from the BC yesterday. This was our first trip to stay on site. And we were upgraded from standard to water view. Actually, our room was right beside the quiet pool and was a great location! So, not sure how often it happens or how it happens but it happened for us! It wasn't a busy week so maybe that had something to do with it? By the way, you'll love the BC!
