Hi - I posted about Universal too but because of my title may not get many responses and I just saw where there is a Universal forum. Anyway, we will be coming to Disney next January and are between Poly and Beach or Yacht. Have stayed at Poly 3 times before and love it so do the kids but they are now 10 and 14 so thought maybe a change near to Epcot or should we do a split? Have never done a split stay before.

My thougt was that we may visit Universal (Possibly) for one day but that is up in the air. We would visit from a Thursday till following Saturday or Sunday. Have been to disney 4 times with the kids but this will probably be our last as we want to do other things even though we love disney. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. Oh, love Poly Concierge but have heard mixed reviews on Beach Club - any thoughts?

We've stayed at both the Poly and BC, with the Poly being our favorite :). But with that said, we had a great stay at the BC and did love the resort. I think the BC/YC would be a good choice since you've stayed at the Poly 3 times already. It is great being able to walk to Epcot and DHS or take the boat from the BC. We've done one split stay (a 2/4 split) and while it was nice staying at 2 resorts in one trip, we wouldn't do another split unless we stayed at least 10 nights; but that's just us. We've never done CL at either resort so I can't comment on that, but I don't think you can go wrong with either one as they are both beautiful resorts :goodvibes.

Thanks - Since you have been to both resorts just curious if the rooms are about the same size?

The Poly rooms are quite a bit bigger than the rooms at the BC/YC. We stayed at the BC prior to staying at the Poly and we thought the Poly rooms were huge compared to the BC. The rooms at the Poly, GF, & CR are comparable in size to each other and are the biggest rooms of the deluxe resorts. Also, another thing that might be a consideration for you is a daybed. All rooms at the Poly come with a daybed, but not all rooms at the BC/YC come with one. You can request one, but for a family of 4, it is only a request and not guaranteed. That is an issue for us as we are a family of 4 and our teens don't like sharing, so a daybed is pretty much a must for us. That is one reason we tend to stick with a monorail resort for our stays. HTH :flower3:.

We've stayed CL at both Poly & YC, a split stay once. They're both great, you can't go wrong with either. It was so easy to hop a boat from YC to Epcot or DHS. From BC/YC, you're really close to the International Gateway entrance of Epcot. From Poly, you're taking the monorail to the front entrance to Epcot. The rooms are bigger at Poly, but brighter at YC (and I think also BC). Poly has great atmosphere, but BC/YC is great too and has a MUCH better pool for your kids' ages (although it's very spread out, if that matters to you).

The split stay part was no problem, it went very smoothly, and our visit was shorter than yours. We didn't lose much time, just made the arrangements and packed our stuff.

Concierge is a different experience at each resort. At Poly, the lounge is so central. At YC (I can't speak for BC), the lounge was close to our room, but our room wasn't close to anything else. At Poly, we could come and go from the pool for food and drinks. At YC, that's a bit of a journey (just navigating the pool area itself is a bit of a journey!), and we never did it. Watching fireworks from the Poly lounge was special - you won't match that at the BC/YC, but maybe the pool and access to the Epcot parks would make up for it. Oh heck I'd just split the stay if I were you! :) Have a great trip!

I have stayed Club Level at both the Polynesian and Beach Club, well between them I would go with the Polynesian. They have a lot bigger rooms and most important their lounge is way bigger then the Beach Club, which is so small that it makes you feel claustraphobic.

We married at Poly... kids were younger (his/hers family) DS10, DD9, DD8...however we tried BC in 2004 and have been at BC ever since..

the Pool is just amazing. I probably would try another resort if we weren't using the pool...

But I vote for trying BC....
1. Stormalong Bay
2. Walk to Epcot
3. Short boat ride (or walk) to Hollywood Studios

also
4. Access to the Boardwalk opens up a LOT of options for Dining, and Fun... One time we rented those Cycles for all 5 of us... (four pedaling at a time) and that was hilarious....

Hope that helps !

Have a Magical Trip!
Mary

Thanks everyone - Decisions, decisions. Maybe will do a split stay then get the best of both worlds. My husband loves the Polynesian as I do too but the kids and I are also ready to try the Beach or Yacht Club. They will be old enough to go walk around for a bit by themselves or get something to eat for a short time. Thanks for your input.
