Beach Club vs Yacht Club?

Hello all,
we have a reservation at the Beach club standard room for our next vacation. We had originally chosen the Yacht club but no standard rooms were available. They are now.

Besides the full balcony issue and the closeness to Epcot which would you choose and why?

We need to decide this week. Thanks

We would choose the YC. We like the color scheme and theming better. Polished wood floors (if only mine here at home were that shiny LOL), nautical theme and warm furniture tones in the lobby. The rooms are very bright and cheery, white furniture and all. The balconies are a great thing to have, we used ours a lot! We could see most of the Epcot fireworks from our balcony and had a great view of the Boardwalk. We weren't sure if it was going to be 'overkill' since we live in New England. It wasn't, we still enjoyed it very much.

I really don't care for seafoam greens and that sandy pink color at the BC so it would bother me LOL. Dh & Ds didn't care for what they saw of the BC either.

It's all personal likes/dislikes with any of the resorts.

I have quite a few pictures of the YC I can post the link to if you'd like to see them.

Here is a link to our YC picts. The picts are from our January 2001 trip, there are a lot so it's probably easier to NOT use the slideshow LOL. When you enlarge the pict. you'll be able to see the caption. They are of our room at the YC , view from our room, YC grounds / lobby, Stormalong Bay, Beaches and Cream ....

we've stayed at both in standard rooms and it's pretty much 6 of one half a dozen of the other....
except for the full balcony at YC which was nice..

my question is, which is nicer, YC concierge or BC concierge?
i'm thinking of doing that this year for a few days towards the end of the trip...

hi josierac!

I love the YC, but truthfully there isnt much difference other than decor! the YC is blues, roses, and white, more elegant and a little more formal. the BC is seafoam green and pink, more casual, with verdigris beds and wood furniture - the YC has white furniture.
the balconies at the YC are great! I'd die if I stayed at the BC and didnt get a balcony!

the difference to Epcot shouldnt be an issue, it's a matter of a minute or two!

pick whichever atmosphere/theming you like better!

even the cm's work together, so you should recieve the same (wonderful, imho) service at both!

Laura :)

Thanks everyone for your input

Beach_Bums - thanks for the pictures, they are great.

I just booked BC tonight...was told over the phone that all BC rooms had balconies....is this true???? That's the main reason we are staying there!
Thanks

No, there are quite a few rooms without a full balcony at the BC. Most rooms at the YC have full balconies.

Yes, they all have a balcony or patio (well, there are one or two that don't, but you know in advance). The difference being taht some have full sized balcony's and others only have standing balconies. IF it's important to you make sure it's noted on your reservaton that you want a full sized balcony, and tell them again when you check in. Let them know you will wait for a better room if needed.

We have stayed at both and we prefer Beach Club. So much so that we're going to stay there again this year - 5/25 - 6/1.

Why?

I think the Beach Club is a little less formal and more "fun and whimsical." Which, for our style, is more our speed.

We like a water view - love to look out at Crescent lake and see the Friendships and the people strolling around the Boardwalk. The views from the Beach Club are typically a nice white sandy Beach. With the Yacht club you get less white beach view. make sense?

Love having Cape May and Beaches and Cream closer. Of course, it's a short stroll from the Yacht Club.

Love the proximity to Epcot - of course.

I'd say you'll love either one - either way you decide to go. But my vote is for Beach Club.

the only difference is the theming - the color scheme of the resorts. All the amenities of the resorts are the same. In the end, it will be up to you. Be sure to check Deb Will's website http://www.wdwig.com and click Resorts for the Yacht & Beach Club's pictorial spread. They should give some clue as to the color scheme that you may feel most comfortable with.

As for me, I'm a Yacht Club girl! :D :D :D :D :D

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YC RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a different feel from each side of the resorts. Beach Club is typically more casual, and the Yacht Club a little more refined. The color and theming of the resorts is probably the biggest difference between the two.

We definitely prefer the YC over the BC. We just love the nautical decor and the beautifully themed lobby, hallways, and rooms. It is certainly a personal taste that makes you favor one resort over another. Look at any pictures that you can view, and let that be your guide. :)

We've stayed at both and love them both. You would be happy at either. We stayed at the BC first and enjoyed its beachy, more casual theme. At that time I walked through the lobby at the YC and thought it was a little too formal, but changed my mind completely after staying there. We had full balconies at both, although you can see that not all BC rooms have full balconies. We had a great view of illuminations from our standard view room at the BC and also from our room at the YC. We were luckily upgraded to a beautiful water view room at the YC. We love the pool there and the whole atmosphere of both resorts. You will have a great time! :)

We chose BC because everyone said it is a more laid back atmosphere. I have 2 kids - DD is 9, DS is 4. DS is a very HIGH energy child. He is a good boy, but just has ALOT of energy. I mean, he wouldn't jump off the furniture or do anything bad, he just runs EVERYwhere. So I picked BC. But personnally, the colors are a little too much for my taste.

Here's my question. How would YC be for a little guy like mine? Would he be frowned upon? Or made to feel bad?

The YC is NOT formal. It is a Disney resort just as much as the BC. There are just as many kids at the YC as the BC. The only difference is theming.

Your child will be just as welcome bouncing off of things at the YC as the BC.

Beach_Bums...thanks for those great pictures. We're going in March to stay 1/2 our trip at the Yacht Club. I feel like I just took a tour. thanks again

All children are welcome at Disney. We stayed at YC and I think I pefere that, but BC looks fun and I am sure which ever you stay at you will love. (if you do BC this year you can look forward to doing YC some day in the future, never stop dreaming!!!)

BTW did anyone see the show on the Travel channel 2 weeks ago with Samantha Brown, Great Hotels? They did Y&B and showed the presidental suite. It was great, they also showed Epcot some and all around the resort and pool. I am sure they will show it again. My husband and I sat guled to the tube going "we were there!!" (they never seem to do the hotels we stay at :) )
