Beach Club vs. Poly

We (me, DW, DS8, DS6) stayed at YC in May and thought it, like its sister BC, was a wonderful resort. We still however think that the Poly is the best, at least for us. We liked the atmosphere at the Poly finding it very relaxing and you can't beat its location to get to MK and Epcot. The fact that you do not have to pass through a large formal lobby to get to the pool made a big difference to us. Also the buildings are only 3 stories as opposed to the 5 stories at BC and YC. We felt this made a big difference. We decided that from now on we will only stay at the Poly for our future visits to WDW.

Hey, just found this thread again, it had gotten buried.

About Lagoon view, well again I know the $ is a personal choice and I don't usually like to tell people how to spend thiers but YES!!!

How often/when will you get this chance again? (being a BC person) That was one of my reason for going LV last summer. Here I am headed back!:hyper:

Also, with my children, they have trouble staying up/out for summer fireworks - but they can manage from the balcony in jammies.

And watching the castle change colors all night from bed. Wow.

Seeing the GF, Contemporary, MK - castle, space mountain etc..., the ferrry going back and forth... well it's like you get to be a part of all the magic; watching from you r own relaxing little paradise.

Is it more? Yes. Money well spent? Yes, yes and again yes. Last summer when I returned I had a post where I described our first night. I'll give you the short version:

After a LONG travel day and the overexcitement of Chef Mickey's we returned to the room, all worn out and boardering on grumpy. Well as we changed the fireworks began. The look on my kids faces was worth every penny I paid for the whole trip. Then (and I'll need a tissue here) my then 6 year old son looks at me and says "Thank you mommy" already with tears in my eyes I asked him "for what?" And he said " for having our room face the castle."

There you have it...

And concierge....well that explanation is a whole other post.

Lagoon View it is. Calling right now!!:D

I hear that Tikiman will be at The Poly the same time as well.

Drinks Tikiman??

We stayed garden view concierge. Because of the cost and the fact that we are not in the room that much I didn't think that the view was that big og a deal. I was wrong. Next vacation I will try for LV, CL. The castle, fireworks are just that beautiful. Even in the am I would go to the cl and get my breakfast, sit down and enjoy the beauty peacefulness of the castle/lake. It's really wonderful. I think worth the extra money if you can afford it. The location of the Hawaii building is central so that it's just so clsoe to everything. I prefer the second or thir floor. Not ground level.

So my vote is the Hawaii building (the whole is concierge level) and if $ is avail. then the topping on the cake would be the LV.

(The chef @ cl is awsome. Great cook and nice guy.) :)

Hey theRobbs,

Yeah we will be out there. We will be at the Dolphin July 23rd and checking into the Polynesian on the 27th till August 3rd. So you are in California too??!!! Looks like a California meeting in the Tambo Lounge huh???

Aloha

Steve

And concierge....well that explanation is a whole other post.

Wish I could be there with ya'll in July!
Have a lapu lapu for BT!:wave2:

I knew I should have avoided this thread!;) All this Poly talk is making me wish we had booked there this summer - DD wanted to give WL a try, and we're doing an Epcot resort for the convenience. We loooove the Poly, as another poster stated, you are absolutely transported when staying there. The laid-back, island-y atmosphere is so wonderful, the cm's so warm and friendly, the lush landscaping is gorgeous, love it, love it, love it!!!!:cloud9: Some people state they don't like the separate bldg. for the GCH, but we really enjoy the walk through the plants and flowers, past the action at the pool! Adds to the experience, IMO!

We've been to the BC, and though it is a very nice resort and love SAB, the Poly has our heart.

Hope you have a great vacation, I know you'll love it!
