We are booked at the CR Aug 29-Sept.6 2003.
I found some great rates for the YC/BC and BCV studio through SOG.
Now I am considering splitting our stay and staying at an Epcot resort the first 2 nights (Holiday Weekend) and then moving over to the CR on Monday.

I am confused about the shared properties and the Villas.

We would really like to have access to SAB. Which properties give you access to SAB?
If not we will stay at the YC or BC. What is the difference btwn the 2? Which one is closer to the pool?
We have visited BC\YC several times but I never paid that much attention as there was so much to look at.
Also does the BCV studio have laundry? We usually stay in Vac. Homes and the one thing I appreciate is bringing home clean clothes so I would move our stay to the end.

Thanks for any input!

Which properties give you access to SAB?

YC, BC and BCV

What is the difference btwn the 2? Which one is closer to the pool?

YC is yacht club themed and has a lighthouse in front (where you also get the boats to go to Epcot and MGM), Beach Club has a beach in front. I have never stayed at them, but they are both deluxe resorts. The pool runs in the middle of them. They both kind of wrap around it. The BCV are on the other side of the BC so are further away.

Also does the BCV studio have laundry?

No, but there is a laundry on the 4th floor. There are only two washer. There is a laundry at ummmm I think the quiet pool at the BC also.

The pool is awesome. Great character breakfast at Cape May. Nice resorts overall. Give it a try.

We stayed at the BCV in February and LOVED it! You didn't mention who (ages) is in your party, but if Epcot would be a focus for you, you can't beat the access! We also loved strolling across to the Boardwalk, and the boat ride to MGM. We enjoyed SAB one afternoon while we were there. I have never stayed in either the YC or BC, but have wandered throught the lobby of each. The YC has a more formal feel to it, with more mahogney (sp?) and brass in the themeing. The BC is more informal with lots of pastels and white wicker, for example. Both are beautiful, and preference to decor would be a personal thing - I personally prefer the lighter look of the BC. Most of the "public" areas are shared, and are between the two resorts. This includes SAB, the health club, some restaurants - Beaches and Cream, for example, shops etc. The BCV's are at the Epcot end of the BC, so a bit farther from the shared facilities. There is a "quiet" pool in the Villa area too. Whatever you choose you will find it incredible. Again - a personal preference, I would definitely choose the Villa's if I had the option. Have a great trip!

There will be myself DH, and 2 DS's ages 4 and 6.

We will arrive very early in the morning and are considering making Saturday a non park day anyway. Right now Spectro/Fw are scheduled for both Sat and Sunday so we could do that on Sunday.
We are really looking forward to staying onsite this time, although we are still renting a vehicle we will use it very little onsite. I've added the cost of RT transfers for the airport and it's not that much more. I figure with a grocery run and one day to look at Villa properties the car will pay for itself. Although the rates are high and blacked out for codes because of the Holiday.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Are the studios at BCV that far from SAB. Right now the Studio and the BC standard room are the same rate. What's in a studio?

We will stay in the NGW at CR.
We're foregoing the patio room for the nights at the BC\YC\V and a Boating Package.
Thanks for all the help so far!

If you are going to spend some time in your room, you will appreciate the studio more than a hotel room. THe BCV studios have a queen sized bed and a double sized sleeper sofa (which is reported to be fairly comfortable and more than adequate for two children). The room will seem larger (and less like a bedroom) with the sofabed folded up. It will give you more floor space for kids to play as well as more seating to watch TV. Some rooms have views of the Illuminations fireworks from the balcony.

The studio also has a round table and two chairs (2 more on the balcony) as well as a "mini-kitchen". It includes an under counter refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster and a coffeemaker as well as a small sink. You will find a supply of paper plates & bowls, plasticware and coffee mugs. The kitchen makes it very handy to prepare some simple in room meals/snacks.

The washers/dryers in the BCV are free for BCV guests. You need only provide your own detergent and softening agent if you use one.

If I were choosing between a studio and a room in the BC or YC hotel, I'd pick the studio every time!

There is quite a bit to do in the area without going to a park. The quiet pool near the BCV is actually quite nice and seldom crowded. SAB isn't all that far away and has some great areas for kids to play in. The activities on the Boardwalk are just across Crescent Lake - a 10 minute walk from the villas. Fantasia Gardens mini-golf is just across the street from the Swan - maybe a 20 minute walk from the BC/YC/BCV. There's an arcade right next door to Beaches 'n Cream. Also, you can ride the Friendship Boats - they travel between MGM and EPCOT with stops at the YC/BC, BW, Swan/Dolphin along the way. Believe there may some kids activities as well - ask when you check in.

Enjoy your trip!

I would definately go with the studio. Give yourselves a taste of DVC and the little extras that go with it. You'll like having the fridge for the perishables. If the tour models are still open there, then be sure to stop by and see what a 1br and 2br look like.

SAB isn't too far, it's just further than if you were in YC or BC. Those two resorts are like a V around the pool and the BCV are off to the left of the left ( \ ) of the V. :-) You would need to walk down the hall of the BCV, out thru a courtyard, thru the BC walkway and lobby and out to SAB. I would say no more than the distance from Epcot gates to the entrance to World Showcase.

And I agree with the other poster about the YC/BC difference. The YC is sort of formal - might make you think about being on the Britannia or something. The BC is a different look and feel.

I would suggest going to www.wdwig.com and checking out the photos of the resorts.
