Beach club villas

The laundry room at BCV is on the fourth floor, just around the corner from the elevators...there are two washers and four dryers...the sign on the wall says both the washers & dryers are 30-minute cycles...but both took between 40 & 45 minutes when I used them last week...I did one load of wash, and used two dryers to dry them...everything was dry with just one cycle...washed denim shorts, t-shirts, a couple of towels...not terribly "heavy" stuff, but not lightweight things either...all the machines were easy to figure out (I'm pretty much of a dunce when it comes to figuring out machines!)...

There's a long table along one wall, which is not terribly convenient for transferring dry clothes for folding--but better than nothing, by a long shot!...and of course I didn't have a laundry basket (who would?)...but not a big deal...it was easier to sort and fold to carry the clean clothes back to our first floor room than to try to carry everything all jumbled up...you might want to bring a pillowcase for transporting clothes to & from...a way to carry clothes wasn't something I'd thought of ahead of time...w/just one load it wasn't a big deal, but had I wanted to do more than one load, it would have been a "logisitcal issue"...

There are also a tv, a vending machine w/various laundry supplies for sale, and two chairs--and I think there was a change machine, too, but not sure about that...I had brought laundry detergent w/me, so didn't need to buy anything from the vending machine, so didn't need change...

Thanks for the details you provided, I appreciate it. I know I will have to do a load or two while we are there. I may just end up using the regular pay laundry if that is near a pool. Doing laundry while basking in the sun and playing in the pool almost makes it fun, well almost! Can I assume that the coin operated laundries are near a pool?

I am not sure if they are finished replacing all of the sofa beds...but just in case yours is not one of the newer ones...we have discovered that if we take the entire mattress OUT of the sofa bed and make up a bed for the kids on the floor, they are much more comfortable, especially if there are two little ones sharing the bed. We make the bed in front of the couch so that you can still sit on the couch to watch TV if needed.
Enjoy your stay!

Well, I've never used the pay-for-laundry facilities at WDW...but I've seen them...there is a laundry room near the quiet pool at Beach Club...don't know how much it costs...(the quiet pool and its restrooms/laundry facilities building is right on the front walkway, just before the path to Epcot)...

I will say that the distances involved from laundry facilities to pool aren't all that different, though...while it's true that you just get out of the pool (or up from your pool chair) and go into the little building w/the restrooms & laundry facilities on the Inn side, it's not a whole lot further from the DVC pool to the 4th floor laundry room at BCV...of course, there is the difference between "same level" and having to get into the elevator and go up four floors...but the lobby where the elevators are is a circle w/several "spokes"...a couple lead to villas only; one to the elevators; one to the walkway to the Marketplace/hotel lobby; and one to the DVC pool...it's really very, very close w/the only difference being having to go up the four floors...

I also know that there are free laundry facilities at other DVC resorts that are right next to the pool...I don't know where the facilities at Boardwalk are, but I know that there is a laundry rooms smack next to the quiet pool at Congress Park in Saratoga Springs (and next to the themed pool--High Rock Springs, too)...I think the same is true at OKW...no clue where they are at Wilderness Lodge...

So if you want to combine sunbathing poolside with laundry-doing, and don't want to spend the money to operate the washer & dryer, you might want to think about pool hopping on laundry day and heading to SSR or OKW--or, quite possibly, to BWV! I've been to the DVC pool at BWV; it's right behind the community center and restrooms...but I don't recall if there are laundry facilities there or not....definitely worth looking, tho, as you explore the area when you arrive...

And I'll now pause to find a bit of amusing irony in knowing this many details about doing laundry at WDW! Let the record refect: in almost 20 years of going to WDW regularly (altho only one as a DVC member), I've done exactly one load of laundry while there -- and that was last week at BCV! I wouldn't want anyone to think I'm a laundry expert (grin a big grin)!!!

Good luck...

Thanks for all those details.

And you all thought I only had two questions..............

We only have Housekeeping towel/trash for one day of our 5 day stay. Will I be able to ask for more coffee so that I have it for every morning or should I just plan on packing one more thing. I was trying to avoid packing too many odd items because the luggage inspectors had a field day with the one bag that we packed all those odd items in, especially the pre-measured baggies of soap powder. What a mess. I think they at first were excited with their find but then when they realized what it was they were a bit ticked and failed to reseal the baggie or to even put that open one back in the gallon ziploc and reseal that in order to avoid a mess.

The can of 50 glow bracelets probably did not help matters either, I'm sure those showed up on x-ray as being very odd looking too.

We also plan to do laundry part way through our trip to cut back on the amount of luggage we'll need to bring. Traveling with an 18 month old and 4 yr old adds too much other "stuff" that we have to bring besides our clothes. :rolleyes1 This will be our first stay at BCV, since there aren't very many washer/dryers, has anyone ever had a problem with the machines not being available? If so, is there a better time of the day or night to try and do our laundry?

I know what you mean. On our last trip to WDW in November, the luggage inspectors opened up my Paul Mitchell hair sculpting lotion bottle and failed to close it. This stuff is very "liquidy" and it emptied out all over my clothes in my bag. So not only was my clothes wet and sticky, but my $10 bottle Paul Mitchel Hair product was wasted!!! Nice way to start my trip!!

Yes, how about the Cavs? Where in Twinsburg does he work. He has a bit of a drive doesn't he? Small world isn't it? Are you a DVC owner who rents? Always looking for someone for future trips.
