Beach Club Villas - what is "canal view"?

One of the options during online check-in at BCV is "canal view". I accidentally checked it, and the process is set up so that I can't undo it. (Interestingly, I now have three requests in the reservation, even though only two are allowed.)

Given the way the canal runs past BCV, the best views of the canal itself are actually some of those overlooking the pool. And pool view is what I definitely am not looking for.

there are also some views of the canal out the back of the building, and those would be fine.

Since I am there as a guest of a DVC member, the reservation is not in my name - calling to correct the request isn't as simple as me picking up the phone.

Thanks for any insight here.

That's interesting. In all the times I've stayed at BCV, I've never seen that come up.

You do have the option of changing your room upon arrival if it doesn't suit you. So I wouldn't stress over it.

Have you had a pool view there before? I've had one twice, and to be honest, it was a great view and not noisy like some pool views can be. Now that the trees and foliage have grown and filled in, they mask the parking lot.

If you're hoping for a view of Illuminations, those are few and far between. I've been fortunate enough to have one a couple times, and then a room that faced that way, but the view was blocked by the overhang above me so it was useless for fireworks watching.

There really aren't any great views at BCV, but that hasn't stopped me from having a great time there.

Thanks for the input. My desire to avoid pool view (never had one at BCV) is in part because of the noise, so perhaps it's less of an issue. But it's also in part just because a view of a swimming pool doesn't seem very interesting.

If I had my choice, I'd have a view of the courtyard between the villas and the Beach Club. Definitely don't want an "Illuminations view" - you get the full brunt of the noise that way, every night! At least the other locations provide a bit of a buffer.

Slightly OT, but when can one check-in online. I would very much like a balcony (any view) and I would love to be able to reiterate that request upon checkin. Thanks!

I think my option to check in online started at 60 days. I waited a while, as I recall.

I do believe that "large balcony" was one of the options available as a request.

Also, recall that with online check-in, at arrival you just show your ID, grab your packet and go, so if you need to discus your requests at that point, remember to wait in the regular check-in line rather than the online check-in line.
