yes I am new to DIS but not to DVC (2010)..not quite sure what that has to do with things....
the marks etc were just the icing on the cake....hairdryer in flames...cupboard falling off.... body fluid stains on the lounge & bed spread etc etc.....those stains didn't look like food....but as always YMMV
but I guess there will always be those who believe Disney can do no wrong and that our $25,000+ investment should just be a donation to DVC without expecting anything of quality in return.
How hard is it to maintain a certain standard???
And yes I do have a very expensive axe to grind......
i can say that the coffeemaker does work as I used it every day when I had that room early in December I believe all resorts are using the triple sheet now. Your right about that shower head, plenty of pressure. Sounds like you had a good stay.Just returned from a 5 night stay in villa number 143. (studio) Overall the room was clean. There was no bedspread. It was triple sheeted. Maybe some rooms still have spreads? The sheets were clean, in fact, they looked pressed. No stains. The hairdryer was securely attached to the wall, and it worked. The shower had plenty of pressure. We don't drink coffee, so we never tested the coffee maker. Overall we liked the room. It was clean
I have been looking and can't find out if when we show up June 13th if the rehab will be done underway or what. I guess we will just hope for a clean room with cabinet doors staying put, no big nasty stains and a coffee maker that works...smjj
We own at BCV and it is my favorite place in the world however, I have felt that it has needed a rehab for years. The hallway carpets are mismatched and pieced together, and have been for several years....that is not acceptable at a so called "deluxe resort". They are also very dirty. The location is awesome and in my opinion, is the best in Disney. This is part of the problem. BCV is the smallest DVC resort at WDW and in high demand because of the location and the pool. The rooms are full 365 days a year. They take a beating. Disney needs to do better with the upkeep. I agree with the poster that said if things are that noticeable then the refurb is overdue. It should never get this bad. Not for what they charge for DVC. We are paying for the known high Disney standards...but where are they? My last several stays at BCV I found the rooms to be old, worn, and dirty. The windows were filthy both inside and out. We found gummy bears in the corner of the master bedroom that were hard and covered in dust and hair...must have been there a long time. The couch sagged awful and furniture was all nicked and dented. Kitchen table was all scratched. Dust on the light fixture over the table was so thick you could write your name in it. Not the Disney we fell in love with. I hope the original poster gets a response from DVC and is somehow compensated for the issues she had. The hair dryer could happen anywhere...but cabinet doors falling off is terrible. Disney is lucky she wasn't injured. We have a trip scheduled for May. 2 nights at AKV Jambo and then 8 nights at BCV. I hope I'm not disgusted. I love Disney...and I want to continue loving Disney!
We had a split stay at AKV Jambo, 2 nights, Grand Floridian Villas, 2 nights in the beginning of December...Both studios and general resort areas were IMMACULATE!Hope that you are as PLEASED as we were!
WE LOVED both properties!
We personally have not stayed at BCV Villas, but I would not be happy with this either! Dues IMO are too expensive to have properties in dire need of repair as this post suggests!
Hoping that the situation will be remedied!
We just checked-out from unit 153 this morning. There is gray-striped carpet in the hallway near the main entrance, but connected to the original flowery-designed, dirty carpet 20 feet later. In the unit, the carpet was torn-up near the breakfast area and by the bathtub. Two missing chairs, missing door stop in bedroom (so saw hole in the wall) and the sofa mattress was way too thin. Maintenance did bring a second mattress to stack on top, but we had to leave the sofa bed open during our entire stay.We own at BCV and it is my favorite place in the world however, I have felt that it has needed a rehab for years. The simple fact is that BCV does need a refurb. Same goes for BWV. A faulty hairdryer could happen anywhere and does not necessarily mean a refurb is in order. A loose cabinet hinge does not equal immediate refurb either. However, the carpet and furnutire is obviously showing extreme wear. DVC owners should expect a certain level of maintainance and upkeep. I feel that keeping it at a 3-star level should be the goal.
These Epcot resorts can get away with below average conditions because of their location. Being able to walk to two different parks is a huge draw. I'm not saying it is right, but Disney knows this and they will try to maximize their profits by putting off refurbs for as long as possible.
I have stayed at BWV, BCV, SSR-THV, OKW in the last 4 years. BCV is the most in need of a refurb and BWV is a close second. The difference between BC/Yacht and BCV is very noticeable.

Good news....below is report from this years DVC annual meeting held this month.
REFURBISHMENTS
Disney Vacation Club resorts utilize two refurbishment concepts in updating its villas. A "soft goods" refurbishment typically involves replacement of linens, draperies, wall coverings and floor coverings. "Hard goods" refurbishment expands to include select furniture and fixtures throughout the villas.
In 2015, Disney's Beach Club Villas will undergo a hard goods refurbishment. In addition to updates to most soft goods, the Beach Club refurb will bring the addition of the 5th sleeper to all Deluxe Studio villas and new faucets. Work is expected to begin in March 2015.

Disney's BoardWalk Villas will undergo a soft goods refurbishment in 2015 "with some hard goods elements." Specifically, the fold-down 5th sleeper is also being added to BoardWalk Studio villas. No date was specified for the BoardWalk renovation start.

Further down the road, Disney's Vero Beach Resort will undergo a hard goods refurbisment in 2016 with all villas receiving new bathrooms. Soft goods refurbishment projects are planned for 2017 at Bay Lake Tower, Treehouse Villas and Grand Californian.

Unfortunately, having heard Annual Meeting promises regarding villa upgrades not happen, I'll believe it when I see it. I'm STILL waiting for the coffee tables for the Boardwalk Villa studios that they promised us at the Annual Meeting back in 2005. Think I should give up?![]()
