Hi all its great to be back - been almost a year since our last trip and is going to be another year for our next one. Anyway, just got our reservations at the Beach Club for October 2003, I AM SO EXCITED, we have never stayed at the Beach before. My question is, my son will be four and I was wondering if there was going to be plenty for him to do at the hotel? Also, does anyone know where I can find a map of the Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club. Yet another question, does anyone know of any sites that has pictures of the Beach Club? I think that is all the questions for this thread, but I am sure I will think of plenty more in the next year LOL.

I have lots of Beach Club pictures, you can find them HERE. :)

Wait until your son sees the pool! :)

we have stayed at the YC four years in a row with our son - he is now 11. the pool area is awesome and has something for all ages!!! there are always afternoon activities too and the CM's make sure even the young ones get a chance to play(if they want to). my child is very fond of the pool soccer games and wants to skip park time just to play. at the YC/BC you also have the added benefit of being able to walk downstairs for a Character Breakfast. it has never been crowded and there are lots of characters in attendance. the Beaches & Cream is also right there and a wonderful, fun noisy place to get some divine ice cream concoction. if you get a room with a water view you can just sit on your balcony nightly and catch Illuminations. you will have a ball. ENJOY!!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :p

You and your son will absolutely ADORE the Beach Club for many reasons. Personally, I think that the BC is the most *magical* resort and it is my favorite. The pool (Stormalong Bay) is amazing! A sandy-bottom, ship-wreck slide, whirlpools, hot-tubs, a current in one of the three pools, etc. make it the best of any resort pool in Disney World. It has actually been reffered to as a "mini-waterpark" by many. Be prepared to be spending a lot of time there with your son! Beaches & Cream is great, but noisy. I would not recommend the breakfast b/c it was very loud, crowded, and the food selection wasn't very good. It makes sense if you are ReaLLy in a rush, but I still think that shop is better for dessert. It was great to stop into after a day in the parks for an ice-cream sundae. And we got to see a couple order the Kitchen Sink! That thing is huge! The Cape May Cafe character buffet is wonderful. The food selection is vast and lots of fun. That buffet holds much of the memories of Disney World for me when I was about your son's age. It is worth more than one stop. I have not tried the dinner clambake, but it is apparently just as good/better than the breakfast. Personally, I prefer the decor of the BC to the YC because it is more laid-back. Of course, the YC is very nice (more ivy-league looking), but when we went in, it was more stuffy and uptight. Returning to the BC felt more like "home." I also enjoy the room decor with its seahorses/checker-board tables/turqouise&pink/summerhouse vibe. Plus, Art the Greeter is very nice. Be sure to speak with him- he's such a sweet man. The Boardwalk is just next-door for entertainment. My family and I love Spoodles and enjoyed sitting at the counter with the chefs in the Flying Fish Cafe. Seashore Sweets is said to have the best icecream in WDW. Epcot is also a shorter walk away than I thought it would be. It literally took only about 2/3 minutes for me to walk, but I suppose it depends on the speed of the walker. It takes 5 minutes maximum. It is a better idea to walk to Epcot rather than take the boat. However, when going to MGM, the boat is a good alternative because walking and the boat take about the same amount of time, I believe. I'm sure that your son will love this resort because being 13 myself, it is my favorite. Plus, it is my mom's favorite also, so maybe you will agree. This is getting way too long now, but I hope it helped! Enjoy your trip!

Thanks so much for the replies, it easies my mind a bit about spending all the extra money, compared to staying at Riverside. We liked Riverside, it was just so BIG that everytime we rode the bus we were standing up, or had to wait for the next bus, that stunk with a 2 year old. I am hoping with the Beach so close to Epcot and MGM that we will be in more of a central location and that when we ride the buses to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom that we wont be standing up.

I was wondering, do the Yacht Club and the Beach Club share buses or do they have their own bus system and are they normally crowded? Still love to hear and see more of the Beach if you are interested in sharing!!! Oh also wondering HOW DO YOU GET THAT COUNTDOWN CLOCK ON YOUR SIGNATURE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE?LOL?

I can't really help w/ your BC questions, as we've only been there to eat at Beaches and Cream. However, I am linking you to thee thread that gives instructions on how to get the countdown at the end of your signature. I hope you have a great trip!

THANK YOU I think I got it THIS IS GREAT!!!

We stayed in Dixie Landings (as it was then) on our honeymoon in 1999. We looked at all the other Disney resorts and fell in love with the Beach Club, but like you, we were worried about spending all the extra money. Having stayed there over Christmas 2000, I can say it's worth every penny! Unlike Dixie, you've got a superb choice of restaurants on your doorstep (including all those in the World Showcase) and it's so simple to get to the parks, particularly Epcot and MGM. Beaches and Cream is NOT to be missed... I think it serves the best veggie burgers in WDW! I had to double check they didn't have meat in them!! And the Cape May Cafe is superb, one of our favourite buffets, along with Akerhaus in Norway.

We're going back to the Beach Club for three weeks at Christmas this year and we can't wait! It is just like "going home" for us and I'm sure you'll love it.

Although we didn't use the buses when we stayed at Dixie, but I did use the buses from the Beach Club last time we went. I didn't have a problem getting a seat and that was between Christmas and New Year - one of the busiest times of the year.
