We are looking to rent points in September for either Beach Club or Polynesian. Besides the pools, which is your favorite? We don’t spend a lot of time in the room, mostly at the parks all day. We have 2 boys 7 and 9, will be renting a studio. Pretty much narrowed it down to these two resorts due to ability to get to multiple parks without using a bus. Opinions are greatly appreciated.

I'm a big fan of the Beach Club! But it depends on which parks you'll be spending the most time at. If you're going to spend a lot of time at MK, the Poly is absolutely better. With Beach Club, you have a very short walk to Epcot, or a longer walk to HS. Plus Beach Club is essentially on the Skyliner route, since the Skyliner Epcot station is between Beach Club and the International Gateway.

I'd go Poly here, but it's my favorite resort. The rooms at Beach Club are pretty blah for me in terms of theme/appointments and they are a lot smaller than the Poly.
How is transportation to Epcot from the Poly? Can you still get there before rope drop taking the monorail (assuming it is running in Sept)?

That's a great question for someone else. I exclusively go to Epcot as a second park, I've never rope dropped there in all my WDW visits.

I will say I think something people consistently underrated about the Poly is access to Epcot, when the monorail is running (is it not back? I thought it was). The DVC buildings are a quick walk to the Epcot monorail. Of course, that's nowhere near the Epcot access of BCV, but still good, IMO.

You could do a split stay. Couple days at poly for mk then move over to beach club for the other parks

monorails for mk really makes a big difference IMO

We will be doing 2 days at Magic Kingdom, 1 day at each of the other parks and 1 resort day.

you can’t go wrong with either. It’ll be more difficult to find an owner for bcv to rent, I think. It’s harder to get bcv. Either would be wonderful.

personally I would prefer poly… but only marginally. The salt water pool sways it for me.

I would suggest trying a split stay at least once if you have not done so. We were always opposed to it until we gave it a shot. Now our kids 6, 11, and 14 feel like the resorts are as special as the parks and love switching resorts to get the most out of the trip. They like the change of pace, new pools, new food options, (even the smells) The resorts make it easy to get luggage moved over. We are actually doing a split stay starting Thursday between Poly and BCV.

Tough call, they’re my two favourite resorts. Poly edges it out slightly for us with the theming and location but I could stay at either one and be perfectly happy. We do enjoy the actual Poly rooms more - they’re bigger with the two bathrooms.

I am an unpacker and organizer when I vacation. Anyone that has done a split stay have this travel style? My husband smirked when I suggested a split stay. LOL

Man, that is a tough decision since they both offer great transportation options! The Boardwalk location is great IMO. My kids are close to yours and we loved the location when we were at Boardwalk this past summer. However, I know most people talk about the pool at BC and the rest is just "ok." So....if you aren't going to use that amazing pool, then maybe Poly?

We also loved a split stay between Boardwalk and AKL. It was fine for us and we loved both. It didn't bother us and we just planned our parks around the locations.

Enjoy the adventure!

It is a short walk to the TTC from the DVC buildings at the Poly where you can either take the ferry over to MK (our preferred method when we stay there) or grab the direct monorail to EP. With most days of your trip in the MK area, I'd not hesitate to stay at the Poly. The split bathroom floor plan would sway it for me as well. Unless the BCV pool or the walk to DHS is more favorable to you, the Poly would be my choice.

I'll be at the Poly in Sept as well. 👏

I’m that way and packing cubes have helped a lot with that. You could pack cubes for part of the stay and cubes for the other part.

We’re the same. We use packing cubes and other means to separate clothes for one segment from clothes for the other and also separate out pajamas and such that will be used at both places. Also, we won’t stay fewer than 3 nights at any one resort, and if we can’t afford 1 BR at both, we prefer to start at a studio and end at a 1 BR so we can go home with clean clothes!

If those are the only two resorts you're considering, and spend all day in the parks, I'd choose the Poly.
BUT
Our favorite at that age was a split stay- always AKL Jambo and either BC, Poly, or BLT for the 2nd resort. AKL is amazing! So helpful with little ones because someone could take antsy kids outside to see the animals or to a viewing area while getting ready or when you have an hour to check out all it has to offer. We love being able to let the kids run outside at the resort.

Yes, but we just take the packing cubes and drop them in the drawers. We also hang a sweater shelf or two in the closet for easy access to things. They dont take up much room at all in a suitcase.

I would pick the Poly. I love, love, love both. Stormalong Bay is hard to keep an eye on kids. My first time there my kids were 6, 8, and 11. There were 0 relaxing pool days. The Poly is much easier to see the whole pool. The Oasis pool is one of my favorites.

The Poly rooms are much larger and have 2 showers. With 2 MK park days, I would stay there for sure.
