Beach Club or Boardwalk

This is hubby's second trip and I'm trying to make it as enjoyable for him as possible. Right now -- I am torn between these two resorts. Which would you choose and why?

Thanks! :flower:

BC, for Stormalong Bay; you can walk around to Boardwalk for activities there, but still have all the benefits of Stormalong Bay--yes, it's that nice!

Without knowing your husband I'm going to say he will like the Boardwalk (BW) better. My family and I have stayed at the BC twice and the BW once. I, myself liked the BW better because the "ambience" is right there outside your resort. The BC is a bit quieter and has more kids running around. My family generally disagrees with me and the main things for them are the pool (Stormalong Bay versus the Keester Coaster pool) and Cape May for a very good, but over-priced character breakfast. Actually, we are going on our fourth trip in late July and yet again, we are staying at the BC. I've learned as a husband and father, if your family is happy, you are happy so I didn't push it for the BW again. The good thing for me is that the BW is just a short walk around the water from the BC.

As you know,The Beachclub is closer to the World Showcase at EPCOT and the Boardwalk is closer to MGM if that makes your choice easier. :)

Well Boardwalk is our DVC home so I'm a bit partial to it. I like that it is pretty much an even walk between MGM and Epcot. Either way you are in a great area and can visit whichever resort you aren't staying at. Enjoy!

Another vote for the Boardwalk. When I'd never been to Disney before, I was persuaded to go to the YC/BC over the BWI...given I went w/ Yacht Club, and as soon as I saw the BWI across the lake I knew I'd made the wrong choice! Believe it or not, after a night, I called the BWI and asked how much it would be to switch...but it was too high (I was on an AP rate I'd bought for our long trip). I LOVE the theming at the Boardwalk! It is so alive and fun and I'm much more partial to it than the relaxed seaside theming of the Yacht or Beach club. Plus, even though Stormalong Bay has its strong points, one of its main drawbacks (and its enough to make me hesitate about staying there again over several other just as lovely deluxe pools) is that pool etiquette can get a little shaky there because people are so excited to be swimming in it (so it would seem) ;) While I'll be the first to admit how much my five year old loved the kiddie side of the pirate ship pool area, I loved the more-under-control Boardwalk pool with all its fun theming a bit better. I thought the rooms at the Boardwalk were prettier than either the Yacht or Beach club, the concierge has a better lounge, and you are ON the Boardwalk rather than having to walk over to it.

I'd go with Boardwalk anyday...but they are all great resorts, so it's not like there's a bad choice here :3dglasses

I've stayed at both, and BW is my personal favorite. I think I just like the overall atmosphere there better. Of course, it's all a matter of personal opinion! :)

I am in the minority here, but I like BC better. It's our DVC home resort, but that doesn't make a difference to me (we bought DVC just to be in it-we never even saw any of the resorts!) We've stayed @ both. BC had nicer rooms and to me a more relaxed feel to it. I like CMC better and Stormalong bay as well. Not that Boardwalk was bad. It was nice there too (to me the furnishings need updating) and the pool is nice too. We just prefer the BC because we think it's nicer.

I'm partial to BC but I look at it this way. Both are great resorts. :flower: BW is a bit noisier, especially at night. BC/YC are more relaxed, and it is only a short walk around the lake to get to the hustle and bustle of the BW. Also that little water hole called Stormalong Bay may tilt the scale !!! :mickeybar

I vote for the Boardwalk....We just LOVE the ambience there. It's a very exciting place to stay. Our kids loved the pool area too.

We have stayed at the BWI twice and really love it but want to try something different next trip so we are doing YC for SAB. We have also stayed at Poly. We prefer the Epcot area. We chose YC over BC because it seemed a bit quieter than BC. When we used the kids club and ate at the BC both times we stayed at BWI it seemed like it was over run with little kids (young ones). Sounds like a wierd comment coming from someone with kids but we do like a more adult oriented resort. We were always glad to go back over to BWI, which was welcoming to kids but definitely not over run.

:)

I vote for the BC because I find it a lot quiter and more relaxed than BW. But you are still only a five minute walk to all the amenities of the BW, right next to Epcot, and a comfortable walk/boat ride to MGM.

If someone in your family is not fond of clowns or 'clown' motifs, the Beach Club (and Stormalong Bay) would probably be a better choice. The Boardwalk has the "Keister Coaster" (with huge clown face at the slide entry into the pool). There's a good picture of this over at AllEarsNet: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/bw38.jpg .

agnes!

Of the two, I've only stayed at the Boardwalk (in 1998) and I really loved it. But, if I had to choose I would probably pick the Beach Club b/c of their awesome pool and for Beaches n Cream.
