Beach Club in January - Weather?

I'm considering a trip to the Beach Club in January 2004. Is this a good time of year to visit? I understand the lines are shorter but will we be able to swim in the pool? I have two young children who love to swim.

Also, we're members at The Wilderness Lodge and haven't visited The Beach Club before. Can anyone recommend a good location for rooms? I'd like a 1 bedroom suite.

We have traveled many times to WDW in January.

When we were there last January 2003 (first vist as DVC owners) the coldest day was 34 degrees and then later that week it warmed up to 55.

In 2002 when we went in January the week prior we went was in the wee 30's but the week we went was in the low 80's.

I was there Feb 1,2003, daytime temps were low to mid 70s (perfect for parks) evenings and nights 40s to 50s.

Pool at BCV is heated to about 82 degrees so it might be a little cool when getting out, but there were plenty of people swimming.

We went during the first week in January in both 1998 and 2001.

In 1998, the weather was warm--high temperatures in the 80. I remember they opened Blizzard Beach back up due to high water park demand even though Blizzard Beach was to be closed to do renovations. It rained for about 10-15 minutes during this trip, fortunately we were on the bus to DTD during the rain.

In 2001, nights were cool to cold with frost on the ground several mornings, days were cool to mild. No rain during this trip. The cooler temperatures may have helped keep some people out of the parks late. We did an E-Ride night and it was nearly empty (like a dream). We rode Splash Mountain four or five times either without getting out or only waiting for one or two boats to go by!

We swam at resort pool during both trips, but had to run back to room during 2001 cold weather.

I am hoping 2004 is more like 1998 than 2001.

It's definitely a gamble. This year we were able to swim. Two years ago we were wearing gloves and heavier coats in the parks. On never knows several months in advance. But, for Florida, if it's cold at WDW you can just bundle up and head to the parks, your not dependant on swimming.

We were there this past January. We had two warm days in the low 70's. All the rest of the time it was in the 60's. The evenings got a little chilly. We didn't swim on that trip and DH really wanted to go to a water park, so we are going back in October.

My mom and I are going this coming January and I would love the weather to be low 70's, that is perfect.

Floida gets a few cold ronts a year where it can get into the 30s'. The odds are it won't be when you are there. I it is, it warms up quivkly as the front moves through. We have been in early Feb the last four years and have had perfect spring(and swimming) weather each time.

We've been there in early January for the past two years, and both times it was COLD. 2002 was MUCH colder than 2003, it was bitter on some of the days with frost! I was also there in later January in 1998 and it was also cool, I don't think we had a day over about 70.

In 2003 DH did sit in the hot tub a couple times, but the warmest it ever got was about 74.

If your main objective is to swim, I'd choose another month.

I stayed at BCV for 4 nights in Jan. of this year. We were not very lucky with the weather. The day before we arrived it got into the 70s. During our whole stay, it never got above 50 during the day. The day we left, it was supposed to get back to 70.

But in spite of the chilly weather, we still had a wonderful time. BCV is a great place to stay, and we loved the small crowds in the parks.

By the way, even on very chilly days there were always one or two brave people swimming in SAB. Not so bad while you're in the heated water, but the walk back to the room has to be a killer. BRRR.

Been visiting WDW in mid to late January for two weeks each year, for the past 12 years. Be prepared for anything. Some years we've been able to swim several days, last year I had my mittens and my fleece jacket pulled around me as we walked through Disney's West Side and someone offered me $100 for my jacket. That really hasn't been the norm though.

I would say most years it's been shorts, t-shirts and no waiting in line.


But like I said, be prepared for anything.

we have gone the past two Januarys and as others have posted it was little below average both times.

2002 was definately colder. the morning the DVC van picked us up at OKW (where we had rented points) and took us to Boardwalk for our Sales presentation, the boardwalk was covered with frost still where the sun had not hit it yet. It was like walking across frozen pond/ice rink, luckily not something we are not used to.

Jan 2004 we are going week later than usual and in 2002 this week was considerably better (from what I hear from WDWBill) than the week we were there. So hopefully it will be even nicer this trip.

But 40's and even 30's as a LOW is better then where we live in Jan so it is still better than western NY. AND IT IS WDW!!!
