Does Anyone Know If The Beach Booys Are Scheduled To Be At Wdw Anytime In The Next Year? We Are Considering Upgrading To Ap's If This Is True. It Seems I Read This Somewhere, Hmmm....

They were one of the "Eat to the Beat" concerts during the F&W Festival last year, second week of October. I'd keep an eye out for the schedule to see if they are going to play again this year.

They were there last year. It also wasn't the "real" Beach Boys. It was Mike Love with a "backup" band. I was disapointed.

Thanks For The Info. It Looks Like They Are Scheduled For Oct. 24 25 According To The Website, Or Maybe That Was Last Year's Schedule?

We saw them at the Eat to the Beat series Oct.'04 & LOVED IT! We stayed for all of their performances and I couldn't tell they weren' t "the real Beach Boys", I thought they were. It really was fun, so much so that DH & I decided we would go back again sometime just to see them there.

Wasn't the fact that some of the band members hadn't started shaving yet, a dead givaway? ;) :teeth:

Yes, I suppose that should have been my first clue!! :rotfl: I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to any of them but the singer. Thanks...now you'll have me chuckling the rest of the afternoon! :teeth: :flower:

I didn't really think I was a fan until I saw them in concert there, after that we went and bought our first Beach Boys CD. (at the Virgin Megastore, I should have waited until we got home & bought it at Best Buy!)

I have been following the Beach Boys for years and have almost every album they have ever done. I got to meet one of them several years ago in a hotel in CA.

Hey guys,
I am a HUGE Beach Boy fan and I have seen the band in concert every year since the late eighties, early nineties and I am also a huge Mike Love fan, so just seeing him is good enough, however, Bruce Johnston is also in the band and he has been with the boys since California Girls was released, early in the 60's.......We will be seeing them again in September at Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, MS.......Who cares about the other originals, Brian is off doing his own thing and Al doesn't want to be with them, so Mike and Bruce can keep rockin' my summers, I don't care.....The music still rocks.......

A friend of the family is in the beach boys - Mike's group. Even though he's not an original, I love him just the same. Any beach boy song is great no matter who's singing!

I just found this thread, Im totally looking forward to bookin a room for Mike and Bruce's performance in October. Im hoping they'll play some stuff from Sunflower and Surf's Up and not just the pop rock beach boys stuff.

I sure wish Brian Wilson and his SMiLE band were going to play at Disney...that would be oooohhhh soooo dreamy! :3dglasses

p.s. Im surprised with the amount of diehard Beach Boys fans we have here noone noticed the reference to my tag under my name :teeth:

Pre party at the Bellevue lounge perhaps? :)

Where do you think theyll perform? Im assuming EPCOT for the W&FF...if thats the case I 'll probably get a room at the Boardwalk, but theres no info on this yet!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

safetymom, whats your fav album? :c)

I wouldn't count on anything from Sunflower or Surf's Up, if I recall Mike and Bruce pretty much stick to the greatest hits stuff. The last time I saw Brian he was doing some songs from Surf's Up (Surf's Up and 'Til I Die maybe?). I've never seen BB at Epcot, but maybe Mike and Bruce will dust off Disney Girls (great tag by the way) for a WDW show. That would be pretty darn cool. And I'd love to hear Deirdre and Good Timin' but I can't see that happening.

You are my new best Disboard friend! :) Deidre is a gorgeous tune, and since Bruce has half of the writing credit its a possibility. Good Timin, WOW! I just want to listen to Disney Girls (another beautiful Bruce tune) and Tears in the Morning. Brian, Carl, Bruce, and Dennis are my favorite writers of the group (in that order)...Its unfortunate that Bruce doesn't get that much credit but he wrote some really beautiful music.

Til I Die is a great great song, so emotional as is Surf's Up, I bet you saw him perform that before he started working on SMiLE again.

I'll be the guy in the front screaming at Bruce to play Tears in the Morning! :3dglasses

How cool would it be if they performed SMiLE at Disney? :)

Anyways, anything after Pet Sounds that has Brian's name on it I can bet they wont perform, but I'll be happy with some of Bruce's tunes.

I don't know that I have a favorite album. I can tell you that other than a few songs Pet Sounds was my least favorite.

My dad is a huge BB fan so I 've been listening to them since I was in the womb. My first concert was the BB when I was 5 years old. Since then I've seen them more times than I can count! I think the last time I saw Brian was in 2001. He opened for Paul Simon and it was indeed before he started working on SMiLE again, it was a Pet Sounds tour if I recall. I didn't want to see Paul Simon though, just Brian, so we left after Brian was done. He did a meet and greet kind of thing that day, but I got about 2 feet from him and decided I couldn't meet him because it would be anti-climactic. I had a ticket to see him last fall with my dad, but gave it to my husband because he'd never seen Brian before. He had a great time.

I know Bruce has done some songs that he gave to other artists, including I Write The Songs which he gave to Barry Manilow, who had a huge hit with it. I think for the most part the Mike & Bruce show sticks to the car and surf tunes, which is a bummer because they did so much more than that! I wonder if they are not able, contractually, to do the later stuff, or if they just don't want to or don't think the crowd wants to hear it. I would guess it's because they think the crowd just wants to hear Fun Fun Fun and I Get Around ad nauseaum, which is another bummer but probably true for the most part. Oh well!
