beach at polynesian

First of all, I would just like to say that today is my first visit to these boards and I've been reading them for the past 2 hours! There's so much helpful advice on here for someone, like me, who's only been to Disney a couple times and is planning their next trip!

My wonderful boyfriend planned a surprise trip for my birthday to Disney in January and I just found out about it. Being the compulsive planner I am, I've been looking for some romantic things to do while down there and watching the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian seemed like a nice thing to do. However, we're not staying there and I was wondering if the beach was still accessible to non-Polynesian guests (we're still staying on Disney property though.) Any help I could get on this would be great.

Anyone can watch the fireworks from the Poly. You might want to consider eating at O'hanas. If you time it right (check Disney's schedule for fireworks time) you can eat dinner while the show is going on. They lower the lights and pipe in the music.
Make sure to see Wishes from inside of the MK too. It's sooo much better upclose!
Enjoy your surprise. Wish my dh would give me that type of a surprise!!

where are you staying?

there are romantic places at most of the WDW resorts. they were designed that way. WDW is the number one place for honeymoons and they know it.

however be aware that even if you can't see anyone - doesn't mean you aren't being watched....cameras are every where especially in the parks.

Actually there is a sign on the beach at the Polynesian stating that it's for the exclusive use of registered guests of the Polynesian.

That said, during slow periods I don't see the harm, although you should probably refrain from using the hammocks/chairs if anyone else is around--in other words Polynesian guests whould get first crack at them.

I thought I remembered that too, but when I was there in October I went looking for it (to take a picture of it for times like this, lol) and I could not find it ANYWHERE. I searched on all three Polynesian beaches. I think there may have been one at one time and it is now gone.....? (just guessing) Have you seen it lately, ducklite? Can anyone comfirm a recent sighting of the sign?

I *think* I saw it when we were there in July, but I did not notice it when we were there a few weeks ago. I didn't specifically look for it though. I know it was there for sure at one time, I wonder if they took it down, or moved it.

People probably thought it'd make a good souvenir and took it. It's probably sitting over someone's tiki bar by their pool.

The sign I've noticed is not actually on the beach. It is near the pool facing the beach in the general area of Hawaii. I didn't notice if it was there this trip but I rather doubt it is the kind of thing someone could pull out of the ground.

caitann24, the are actually three beaches at the Polynesian. Other than holidays, I think there is plenty of room for everyone who makes the trek there. But I do agree it would be considerate to leave the hammocks and swings for Polynesian guests during the fireworks.

There are 3 signs three feet into the water that state the beach is for Poly guests only. Those signs were there last month. These are right on the main beach by the pool. They've been there for years.

Yep. They say no swimming and that the beach is for Poly guests only.

Unless I am remembering incorrectly the signs in the water just state that there is no swimming in the lagoon.

Yes, I checked those signs and I am pretty sure they just say no swimming and I think no feeding the birds...?(well, in more words than that!). Please do check on those skiwee, and take a pic if you can.

The one I seem to recall from the past was not in the water like that, but rather up at the beach edge, or even farther up into the pool area.
