Be sure you bring photo ID and membership

Never leave home without photo ID & insurance cards.

I can't be the only one who has had issues with their MB not working properly when first attempting to charge some thing at the parks?

Yes, the desk handily fixed the issue when we returned to the resort, said they just reset the band whatever that meant. I was just glad we had a backup CC with us in the park.

I'm still waiting for replacement DVC cards with current expiry dates. Haven't printed off from the member site, had thought I could just sign into my DVC account and show 'proof' (or just use AP card for most things but TOTWL) if I was asked.

Do I really need to print the DVC card?

CM's will have trouble with the new DVC cards until time has passed and they become used to them. I would print the card as backup just in case.

It should work and I've seen a number of reports of people using it. Other reports are that some CMs don't know about it, but then they won't accept a paper print out of it either. By this time supervisors should all know about them if you were to have any issues you could ask for one. And if it didn't work a call to MS should be done and they can make sure training is done.

There is literally no way for me, personally, to comment on this - without getting hate mail :(.

So - best to say - if one is driving? Consider carrying a valid license. If one is walking down a STREET, in your home town.... consider carrying ID. ALL considerations - not ORDERS.

All personal suggestion - I'm not right, you aren't wrong....

On the other hand - I've never spent a night in Jail because the local Police could not figure out who the hell I really was :).

Did you read this very short thread? Because 90% of people in this thread suggest carrying your ID. So not sure why you are worried about hate mail.

I always have my drivers license, dvc card, insurance card and AP discount card with me in WDW. I also tend to carry a cc, just in case the MB scanners aren't working in shops...yep, it's happened!
It's just not a big deal.

I never go ANYWHERE without ID, medical card and credit cards and of course my DVC card.

I'll admit to not carrying my insurance card (its on my phone though) but I do carry at least ID and a credit card which with my phone has easily covered every emergency I have ever found myself in (since I never got stuck somewhere without signal or anything like that)

My kids always give me a hard time and make fun of me but I always carry the "fanny pack" and keep all our stuff in there. Funny, there never give their mother a hard time and she has one too:)...smjj

You must be a member and staying at a WDW resort. You need to show your member card. They can scan the band to verify where you are staying.

You may also need a picture ID to prove that you didn't o TOTWgive your MB to someone else who isn't a member.

We found out in June that if the scanner is working they can use your MB to confirm you are a DVC member staying on property. But if the scanner is down they will ask for your ID and member card before they allow you to go up to TOWL. I guess they just accept that you are staying on property when the scanner isn't working.

If I'm going to the TOTWL and am staying at Poly I think I can bring with the folks in my room (like the kids who don't have DVC cards). Can I also bring my parents who are staying at Art of Animation? Do they check every member of the group separately or just one? (We would just be a group of 6 so I'm not bringing a huge group. I just would hate to have to leave grandma and grandpa in the lobby.)

how hard is it to just carry ID , DVC and Ins cards. Are the card that heavy. OMG

According to the published rules, no, you would not be allowed to bring anyone who is not on your reservation.
Do they check every member of the group separately or just one?
Talking about ways to break Disney's published policies is typically not allowed here.

I read this as them just wanting to know the rules and how they process these rules...smjj

Thank you for seeing my positive intent. I just wanted to know how this works so I don't inadvertently promise something I can't deliver.

I don't understand the problem with carrying ID---other than in a water park I always have mine on me. But with that said, Busch Gardens Williamsburg (and sister Water Country USA) gave up on the fingerprint scanners and now just take your picture. The first time they check your ID and after that when you scan your pass they see your picture on their screen and let you through. It's much faster than playing with the fingerprint scanners---which are especially a PITA for my MiL whose fingers don't work with Disney's fingerprint scanner so they have to call for a supervisor to check her ID at the gate.

And once you have that, it wouldn't be hard to pull up the picture for discount checks, etc....

That's what they do with DL multi day passes, too.
