Okay, I am thinking about buying the starter kit from Sephora this weekend (20% off code), but my question is, how do I know what color is right for me? I don't want to spend the money if I don't know what color to get!
You can base it similar to what liquid foundation you wear now. Go to the Bare Escentuals website:
http://www.bareescentuals.com/id/ and click on the Order Now part of the introductory kit. In the next window, click the add to bag and continue link. At that point you will be given faces and foundation color choices. Read the discriptions (it would not allow me to copy and paste the info) and decide what color is your best match. Then close the window without ordering and go to the Sephora website!
An overview is:
Fair: porcelain, neutral undertones
Fairly Light: porcelain to light with golden undertones
Light: light skin with golden undertones (NOTE: I've heard this is very yellow)
Medium: medium skin, neutral undertones (NOTE: I've heard this is very pink)
Medium Beige: medium skin, golden undertones
Medium Tan: medium skin, neutral undertones
Tan: golden skin with neutral undertones
Warm Tan: honey amber skin with neutral undertones
Warm Deep: warm caramel brown skin with neutral undertones
Deep: medium-to-dark skin, neutral undertones
Deepest Deep: rich expresso skin with deep golden undertones.
If you can get to a BE Boutique, Sephora or Ulta you can get color matched. A new boutique opened at Bayshore Mall (5676 North Center Parkway,
Glendale, WI 53217, 414.962.0272) if that is close to you. Sephora has a good return policy also, if you get the wrong color. Most of the kits have 2 foundation choices so you can mix to get the right color. They are also very forgiving. I'm deathly, sickly pale and can wear Fair and Fairly Light. The more yellow undertone in the Fairly Light helps neutralize my red cheeks and nose.
I'm getting ready to fill out my Sephora wish list and give it to "Christopher Kringle!"
