Oh my..!! I just snagged an ADR for Saturday at BOG at 4:45!! We live about 2 hours away so our day trips are usually short notice and I just so happen to be looking for dining options and it popped up! I didn't think twice and booked it before it was gone. Now can someone please let me know what to expect for my party of 3, myself, DH and DD9. I've peeked at the menu but I'm wondering about food quality, top rated items and atmosphere. Is this really a must do?

I don't really understand the first two replies....OP did not simply ask "what is the menu?"

I think you'll enjoy it, OP. The atmosphere really is that amazing. We've had dinner there twice and are going a third time in July. I honestly can't remember what I order (oops, haha) but I think it's the chicken! Clearly didn't stand out in my mind but it was good enough. And of course get the grey stuff for dessert!

It's never wrong to ask!
Good for you! Yes, I think it is a must do. The food is French-inspired. I had lamb and it was delicious. Yes, we had to have the grey stuff and yes, it is delicious. The whole dessert cart is fun. This was also my first-ever glass of wine in MK. Not sure where you'll be seated, we love the main dining room, but regardless, take a peak in each just to see. Seeing the Beast on the way out is just icing on this delicious cake. ENJOY!

The atmosphere is great-three different rooms with completely different feels. The West Wing is dark, intimate and dramatic, the Ballroom is huge and gorgeous and the view from seats by the windows is charming but it can be very noisy, the Castle Gallery (personally, my least favorite) has always been half empty whenever we have eaten there. You can request a room when you check in but they do not guarantee it and if you can get it you may have to wait a little longer but in my experience we have gotten what we requested every time.

My daughter adores the mussels there, I like the seasonal salad trio. I love the lamb and the chicken. My husband, daughter and son all like the steak and the braised beef. (Although the last couple of years we have done girls trips only.)

The desserts are overrated, IMO.

We dine there every year since it has opened, sometimes twice a trip and we love it.

I went with 2 of my sons (16 and 11 at the time) and we loved it. It is a sit down meal, much more subdued at dinner than lunch. Having pictures with the Beast was so fun! We took a lot of pictures!! We are going again this summer and my kids asked to go back!

I agree with the previous helpful posts.
The atmosphere is awesome. Hopefully the beast will make a grand entrance when you are there. I love the lightening storms and the different rooms you can explore. It really is a magical place. I think it's a must do and would not want to do a trip without it and as others have stated make sure to try the grey stuff! Have a great trip. I'm glad you were able to get an adr post back and let us know how it goes!

Last year we LOVED our BOG dinner. The ambiance was great. The place didn't feel overly packed. Our server was able to give us a lot of attention, chatted with us, etc. The food was very good, though on the salty side. The whole meal felt really special.

This year, we ate dinner there twice and very nearly cancelled our second dinner. The first dinner felt like a cafeteria experience. We were packed into the ballroom where it seems they have added many tables since last year. The place was loud, crowded, and busy. Our server had zero extra time to spend with her tables. The food was still good but salty. I loved my scallops, shrimp, and lobster over pasta, though. DH thought his steak was so-so. DD is a vegetarian who doesn't like eggplant or mushrooms, so her choices were very limited. She had the potato leek soup and bread from the bread basket, though our server did offer some alternatives that were not on the menu. Dessert was good. DD and I each had the grey stuff and liked it much better than last year's grey stuff dessert. DH changed his dessert out for the chef's salad selection. He wasn't too keen on it, so that wasn't a good choice. Overall, while fine, this meal just didn't live up to our first experience there.

We ended up keeping our second dinner reservation, and I'm glad we did because that experience was much better. We were seated in the West Wing, which was quieter and much, much less crowded. That helped a ton! I would suggest mentioning that you would like either the West Wing or the Rose Gallery when you check in. We didn't request anything specific, so we just lucked out that time, but I have been told that you can make a request at check in. You just might have a longer wait. Our server was still very busy the second night, but he checked in more often than the other. The manager came out and visited tables that night, so that was a nice touch. DH tried the steak again and said it was much better than the first night. I'm surprised he tried it again but glad he did since he liked it more the second time. DD took our server up on one of the non-menu alternatives and very much enjoyed her meal. I chose the seafood pasta meal again, though debated getting the salmon that was the catch of the day. If the pasta hadn't been so good the first time, I would have changed up. DD had the grey stuff dessert again. I had the triple chocolate cupcake, and it was wonderful but so rich! Great fix for a massive chocolate craving. DH had the lemon meringue cupcake and loved it. I tried a bite and agree it was really good.

If any of you like lemonade or fruit punch, the Odwalla drinks with the fruit foam toppers are so good! Yum!

It is nice to get pics with the Beast, and this is the only place to do it. Unlike Akershus where you meet Belle before being seated, here you meet Beast after dinner, and it's up to you to remember to do so. The lines vary depending on how many people are finishing up dinner at the same time.

I hope your first meal at BOG is as wonderful as our first one was! The castle is beautiful, the food is generally good, and I think the staff does try its best. They could stand to reduce seating back a bit, though.

You are correct. I thought they asked "what could they expect for .. their party ... to spend." Not sure why I read it as a cost thing.

OP to give my opinion on your actual questions RE: DINNER.
- Food quality ... very average
- Top rated .... I've never see consistent posts about absolute favors or must haves
- Atmosphere ... just like during the day and quick meal other than you place order at table instead of kiosk.
- Same rooms, tables, noise, kids moving about, folks moving about taking pictures, same desserts other than grey stuff on inedible cookie instead of cupcake* ..... did not feel like a TS.
- Main difference ... Beast.
- Must Do? no. Eaten in there many times, all three meals. Dinner won't bother again.

*Poster below reports this has changed but the menu hasn't changed. Looking for any others who have had a new tart version...

The grey stuff at dinner is no longer on a long, thin cookie/brownie thing. It is now on top of a white chocolate custard tart. It is much better than the previous version of the dessert.

I like BOG and I think you have a great time booked. We were a party of three women last December with a 4:05 ADR. It was early for us, but it turned out great. We did relax with a glass of wine before ordering dinner, and our server was fine with that. The Beast entered a few times while we were there, and his entrance was pretty darn nice!

I had ordered a steak medium rare. It was not. The server immediately notiuced and removed it, THe second was medium, and I woudl have eaten that, but she insisted that we were paying for properly cooked food, and brought me a perfectly cooked steak. My dining partners were happy with all of their choices, I think one had a well done steak, and the other the scallop and shrimp dish. I know she said it was delicious!

This is a busy restaurant and I think that the kitchen is sometimes pressured to push meals out. You do not need to accept that if it happens to you. I think that the teeming is wonderful, and I would definately make time to vist the Beast after dinner.

What?? When did that happen??

It's an absolutely gorgeous restaurant, and the atmosphere is amazing. While we enjoyed our experience, we didn't think the food was that great. So for us, it was a must do once, but don't necessarily have to go back kind of thing. Enjoy!

Sometime between last Jan and this Jan. The shrimp scallop dish changed in that time period, too. It's now a pasta dish instead of a puff pastry. For me, these were both changes for the better.

We were there over Thanksgiving and Ive had the new seafood dish and its pretty good - but we had the old brownie/chocolate biscuit thing with the grey stuff for dessert. Very disappointing to hear they changed that.

I never went there for dinner, but did for lunch. I know this isn't about the food, but more about the atmosphere. After your dinner do try to discreetly look around at the other rooms. It is amazing and each room is different

So excited to hear that! I wanted teh grey stuff but heard awful things about that hard brownie thing.
