When you eat dinner at BOG, do you get to pick where you sit or does a hostess seat you where they want you?
Also, if we are celebrating my daughter's birthday, what do you think the chances are of her getting to "try the grey stuff"?
Thanks in advance!

I haven't been there yet but you will definitely be seated by a CM....and yes it will be where they have a table available for your party size... if you know where you want to sit you may ask at checkin and they may be able to help but it's not guaranteed....this is all assuming you have an ADR

We did not inform them that my son was celebrating his birthday. He was simply wearing his birthday pin. Before we got to pick our dessert the waitress gave him a plate with the grey stuff on it. I still don't know what it is because even though we were there in February, still, every time I ask he tells me to ask the dishes.

As far as seating, you are seated and really have no choice. We were are party of 9 and we were split up into 3 tables, which was okay with us. Two in the ballroom and my table in the West wing. I thought the West wing was very nice. Less noise. And not as crowded together.

Deakam - your son cracks me up!! I love his response.

We have eaten lunch there before and sat ourselves in the west wing. Chloe loved it in there and wants to eat in the west wing for her birthday. She is crossing her fingers and toes that she will get to try the grey stuff!

At dinner you do not pick your own table. However, the ballroom is much larger than the West Wing so if you want to sit in the West Wing ask for it when you check in. There's no guarantee, but at least you've made the request.

Let the CMs at the podium know it is your daughter's birthday. Also have her wear her birthday button. Servers don't always offer the grey stuff so ask for it if your server doesn't mention it.

We had dinner at BOG 2 weeks ago. Our ADR was at 4:25. After checking in, I asked if we could be seated in the ballroom. The CM said since we had an early dinner ADR, we will most likely get our request but to ask again when our pager goes off. She did mention that if there's no available table in the ballroom and that's where we really want to sit, we could just wait longer for an available table.

We did not wear our bday buttons, but I told our server it was our birthdays. She didn't offer the Grey Stuff but I asked for it. She said "I knew you were going to ask" :)

After I ate it she asked how it was. I started to say "it was good..." and she was like HuH? Until I said "It's delicious!, the dishes were right!" It was cute.

Also, note that there's only one Grey Stuff per table apparently. We had 2 birthdays. We did get 2 birthday cards signed by Beast and Belle.

We were both wearing our Anniverary pins when we went for dinner at BOG and we will surprised with gray stuff after we compelted our entrees. It is basically yummy icing.

It's a whipped dessert, cookies and cream flavor (suble flavor though, it doesn't taste like much).

Got grey stuff last Saturday night with no birthdays or anything. We said we were celebrating drinking beer in the Magic Kingdom.

Getting the grey stuff really depends on the server. Some seem inclined to bring it to anyone for any reasons, others seem unwilling to bring it unless asked. If you really want and the server doesn't offer, I would just ask.

As for requesting a specific room, if you want the ballroom, my guess is you'll have better luck. It's very big compared to much small West Wing. If you want the West Wing, be prepared to have to wait a while.

We've asked when we checked in each time if we could be seated near the back windows (to see the snowfall), and they havent disappointed us yet !!
And you should have no problem getting the Grey Stuff ! Enjoy !!!
