I keep reading about how, even if you order in advance, you still have to wait 20 minutes to get to the pay station and then 20 minutes to receive your food! I really want to bring DD, 3, but I'm afraid that is a lot of standing time prior to seating. Does the time go by quickly, maybe because all there is to look at? TIA!

That was not our experience at all. We pre ordered, walked in, waited in line for about 5 minutes to pay, paid and found a seat, and waited about 10 minutes for our food.

yeah if you pre-order it barely takes any time at all

We brought 10 month old twins for lunch in February 2015 no problems- trying breakfast with 1.5 year olds in a week

We preordered and waited maybe 5 minutes to scan our bands (we had the dining plan) then found a table right away. Food came about 5 minutes after that. My DDs were 1 and 2 1/2 and they did great. Definitely recommend ordering ahead. The line to order food was pretty backed up.

I will add to those saying that it was really quick when we pre-ordered. We walked right in, paid, and then found a table. We were all barely seated before our food showed up. It was really quick.

Few weeks ago, pre-ordered. We were sent into the left line to the ordering kiosk room (library) and waited about 5 minutes before we were sent to a kiosk to "activate our order" .... which of course, as expected from reports on here, was not in the system. So I just quickly ordered again, scanned my MB and went to find a table. Food came out not too long after we settled in at table, 5-10 minutes tops from time we left kiosk, but we had gotten our drinks. It really was not difficult or long at all. While I don't trust the system to have my pre-order, I would probably do it again just to go in the pre-order line and bypass the longer line.

They are pretty efficient at the kiosks, and there's lots to look at too. If you get a really early time, it's usually much quicker than at peak lunchtime. I think your preschooler will do fine :)

Is there a thread about pre-ordering? How do you pre-order? Is this just for Be Our Guest Restaurant?

Just another reassurance...we ate lots of different places in our recent Oct trip and BOG lunch was one of the easiest with my 1 yr old and my 3 yr old. We were a party of 10 - pre-ordered - arrived for our 12:30 ADR on time, short wait to check in, found a table (for 10!) with no problem, food came within a couple minutes (we had just barely gotten the baby in his bib with his placemat down when they came with the cart), both kids (who were either lukewarm or rejecting meals up until then) both ate their entire meals...

My 1 yr old packed away an entire mickey meatloaf meal and my 3 yr old (who is REALLY picky and eats like a bird) was entranced by the make your own pasta thing and ate her entire meal too.

It was a definite hit for us with little kids - I recommend it!

Like anywhere at WDW, planning is key. If you're worried, plan to eat at an odd time which would be less crowded. Less crowded means a less busy kitchen. Less busy kitchen means that you will probably be fed sooner.

When you pre order, what is the procedure once you get in...I know one person from the party will go and get in line to pay and activate the rose, but can the rest of the party go ahead and find a table or do you all have to be together?

We won't have the magic bands..just wondering because we have a larger party if they can go ahead and secure seating while I pay?

We pre-ordered right before we went in - waited maybe 2 minutes in line to be seated, then got our food fairly quickly after that. I was surprised at how fast it was.
