Just back from 9 days at WDW. Managed to get a reservation for a dinner while on property. (didn't even look for one, just popped up as an option !) 4 adults, 2 kids.
First, beautiful decor in the restaurant. No doubt this is the highlight of the experience. It lives up to everything I've read on here and the pictures do not do it justice. Nice addition of being able to visit the Beast after dinner. One issue though, I felt it was very dim and tough to see our food.
Second, FOOD was average at best, and over priced for the quality. I'm not from a large metro area with incredible places to eat. I'm from a very rural area where a chain restaurant like Applebees is a decent place to dine. The food at BOG lacked taste and reminded me of something I would get at a cheap catered wedding. ( ie green beans with onions and peppers.....yuck) Potato Leek soup was very good though and the french fries that came with some of the meals were hot and decent. Rolls were HOT and tasted great. Service was very good and our server was nice and friendly.
Pork chop lacked taste, and au jus is included with it to highlight the taste, or as I found out, give it taste. Steak tasted okay, but IMO, was a low quality cut for a high quality price. Chicken was bland, very bland. Skipped desert. Total bill for a meal with the quality between Applebees and Ponderosa was $175.
Overall, great atmosphere and beautiful place to eat. Food was below average with a couple exceptions. I would eat here once to say I did, and experience it, but this will be our first and last meal at BOG.
