Please be Honest with me,the good the bad and the Ugly;) ,Please tell me about the Princess Story Book Lunch Or Dinner! I am a little concerned because I wanted breakfast and it is booked up,but oh the many choices of times and days for the lunch was my pick,I have not made the ressie, needed to come to the Vets to be Honest with me,if I do decide to take it, is it better to take it early or later.:) I have a 2 yr old son that I think he will do better with the Ladies, cause he loves them:) I think Pooh and the crew will get the back seat with him!

It's fine. Much of the menu is very typical American food though you can get more exotic if you want, especially at the appetizer buffet (I spent a year in Norway so I go right for gjetost - caramelized goat cheese - myself!).

One thing I like about this restaurant is that they give the under 3s an actual meal.

We've always had bad luck with getting seated quickly here, even when we have the very first adr or one of the last we wait and wait and wait. Not sure why. :confused3 I don't think early or late matters much.

We've had one of the best servers we've ever had at Disney here and one of the worst another time. :-)

The princesses have always been very sweet, but a bit more rushed than at the castle. Akershus is a very large restaurant so lots of tables to cover.

I don't sound thrilled, I know, but we do like it and my boys chose it as their first meal at WDW this trip so they obviously love it (they dig the ladies too, lol) Totally worth doing but especially if you are on the DDP.

Are you talking about the princess lunch at CRT or Akershus?

The character interaction is the only reason to go, IMHO.

Unless you and your party enjoy unusual food--that is to say, food that most Americans probably aren't used to eating.:confused3

I tried to like it, but I felt like I was eating at a deli meat & cheese bar with lots of unusual pickled things.

Not my thing--but my DD enjoyed meeting the princess: 's.

Wow, where I come from pasta, cheese soup, salmon, meatballs, mousse and rice pudding are not exotic. :confused3

The kids' menu is downright across-the-board generic pan-American.

Grilled Salmon, with corn and boiled potatoes
Grilled Chicken Breast, with corn and boiled potatoes
Cheese Ravioli, with cheesy cream sauce
Pasta & Meatballs, with tomato sauce
Hot Dog, with corn
Pizza with mozzarella cheese
Viking Turkey & Cheese Roll Up, with grapes

We love the Princess Storybook Lunch. I've been twice, and have ressies there for our trip in 2 weeks. We have always done lunch. I always book the first seating.

This has been good for us, since we're a large group (7) and as soon as the breakfast group has been ushered out, we've able to get in right away.

I think the food is excellent. The buffet is great--kids can make sandwiches and salads. The food is NOT exotic. Make a ham sandwich out of the buffet if need be...I think everything is really good. My favorite is the salmon sandwich & soup combo.

I think it is a great choice and the character interaction has always been fabulous. :thumbsup2

We loved it
DH had the lamb
I had the Pasta and
DD had the salmon
The cold buffet was very good

Plus the princesses rock and were so awesome very good interaction

We loved it! I had an open faced salmon sandwich, my dm had the swedish meatballs, and my kids had usual kid menu stuff. The buffet area is kind of neat- gives you a few new things to try! The characters were great with ds and dd. DD did a princess twirl with Cinderella and ds's cheeks were covered with princess lipstick kisses by the time we left. Such a little flirt!

I agree with PP that I'd only go again for the character interaction.
We went for dinner and the food was just "eh"... Not even good. Just "eh".
I ended up eating more from the cold buffet than the plated dinner.

For the price I would pick Crystal Palace, 1900 PF, Ohana bfast, or H&V over Princess Bfast. But I have the say the inside of the building is really cool tho.

Much of the food on the meats/cheese/pickled-stuff bar was exotic--that is, from another part of the world; foreign--but it is the World Showcase.;)

You also order an entree, in addition to the bar, and although that menu is pretty standard, we didn't find the food to be to our liking. YMMV.

Last time we went was in 2005 and I gotta be honest.. we HATED the food.. loved the princesses but the food was awful. It was served family style and had no buffet. The rice pudding at the end was the most amazing thing I have ever put in my mouth though!1 I would go back just for that! It seems now there is a buffet, so maybe it is better?

Ok so in terms of the meats/salads, etc on the cold buffet....some have said it's "exotic". What types of meats and salads are they? I'd really RATHER do Lunch or Dinner there (due to the timing...I HATE wasting my morning time eating a long meal) but as the OP - I'm a bit nervous about the food as I've read VERY mixed reviews.

I suppose the key thing to remember is that you are mostly going for the princesses. The food is secondary. I know my 2 princesses will go NUTS to see so many princesses in one place!

But still curious what the meats and salads are like...IE if you can't stand yoru entree, can you get enough to eat off the cold buffet??

Slightly off topic - do the little girls dress up in their princess gowns at this place???

We didn't love it. We thought the food was kind of bland, to be honest. I had a pasta dish and it was the worst pasta dish I've ever had. And they did NOT allow DS (then 2) his own meal. He had to eat off of our plates, or he could eat off the buffet. DH will eat anything and he didn't like it (that's saying a lot for him). It was a lot of money to leave hungry or to fill up on cold cuts. DH refuses to go back. We much preferred 1900 Park Fare.

There is regular ham & cheese & breads at the cold buffet to make sandwiches. (if I remember correctly) I think there are some salads that might be a bit different, but I remember there was a pretty plain pasta salad (with mickey-shaped noodles) that was a real hit with my kids.

Yes, the girls dress up in princess dresses. I just brought one along in my diaper bag and popped it over her head before we walked in.

We ate here last year and the year before and enjoyed it both times. After you are seated you can go up to the buffet. It is small - more like a salad bar with some Norwegian fish, cold cuts and cheese added in (but the salad items are still "regular"). The entrees are good, just read the descriptions on the menus posted here and allears.net. We dined last year with a friend who disliked every option so she was allowed to order an "adult portion" of a kids menu item. No problem. They may also be able to modify an entree slightly, it doesn't hurt to ask. The princess interaction was just great and girls do wear the dress-up gowns. You'll get some great pictures.:teeth: :

We had a total of 9 adults and 7 children in our party. We went for lunch. None of the 9 adults said they would ever go back to eat....now the character interaction was great! I am a picky eater and could not pick anything to eat off of the menu. I think, from what I recall, it was the way the food was prepared that made it so unique. If I were you I would either keep calling for breakfast, or just plan not to be starving when you go in.

Hi I am going for the P&P Pic and Princesses,my 2 yr old loves salad and I think we will be fine if not we will just hop on over to sunshines seasons,I am going in it with an open mind but we will se what my belly'says:lmao:
