Be honest...which DVC resort for Easter 2009?

Ok, normally I stay away from WDW during Easter...but we just found out that a bunch of friends want to go to WDW for Easter break next year (4/12 - 4/18). Not one to ever give up a chance to go to Disney...DH & I said yes....even though we know it's going to be insane during that time.

I need to get my resort requests in order. We normally stay at our home...SSR...but are willing to stay just about anywhere. We are looking to get a studio.

Where do you think we'd have the best chance at getting a studio for 6 nts....without having to switch resorts? We don't have to worry about our friends...they're all staying at Poly....paying $600+ a night! I love Poly, but there's NO WAY I'm paying that when I can stay at a DVC.

So...back to my original question...what 2 resorts should I try first?

Your best availability will be SSR.

Definitely reserve SSR at the 11month window. I think AKV would be a nice choice around that time of year. If you want to be close to the others perhaps the VWL? I don't think you can go wrong with any resort! I wonder if the contemporary will be ready then.

Frankly, for that time of year calling now, you should call immediately and try to get home resort before 7 month window begins in two days. There may be nothing even now. If so, call Sep 12, exactly 7 months out and start looking for anything because that is "switch" time for many who have already reserved home resort.

Whoops. Misread it. Definitely take what you can get at this point and then hope for the best on a waitlist!

I'll give you some hope. I just called & booked an AKV value studio for 4/11-4/17. My home resort is OKW. From what I understand, there is very limited availability at most of the resorts!! Maybe because easter is so late?

I agree...Call ASAP! The 7 month window opens soon, so get your home resort now, and if it isn't available, ask about availability at the others when you call. Then call back first thing on the 7 month day and make your reservation.

I just booked for SSR for the 11th through 17th in April at SSR.

Not all Easter breaks are at that time so you may have a chance. In NJ we are off April 6-13.

We are in NJ too....our friends, who have kids, have break from April 9th to the 17th...they go to Jackson Twp. schools....that's why we're going then (and my b-day is on the 17th )

I was able to book 2 studios at BWV at 7 months out - one for April 3-9 and the other for April 7-9. I called September 4th for the 3-9th (one day after the 7 month window opened up) and the day the 7 month window opened up for the 7th and 8th. There was no availability for standard and Boardwalk View, but I got pool/garden view with no problem. I didn't even ask about any other resorts.

thanks everyone....tomorrow is the 7 month window for our trip....i'm going to try and call tonite and at least get a ressie at our home resort (SSR)...then i can call tomorrow and see if i can get another resort. i figured this way we'll at least have something. i'll let you know what happens.

Just got the e-mail....we are goin' to WDW for Easter! I booked online and got our ressie at SSR (home resort) for our entire stay! :bouncingp :ale:

We decided to just go with SSR....didn't want to deal with waitlists, etc. and this way we could guarantee our stay.

Yippee! Now the planning can begin!!
