be honest , are you the most successful person from your year of high school?

Probably not, but I didn't want the typical professional career. I'm an RN, I make six figures, and My job is PRN, so I can work as much or as little as I want. It's a fabulous set up that allows me the flexibility and free time to achieve my personal goals while making enough money to have fun. I am where I want to be in life at my current age (early 30s). I have plans to work towards a higher level of educational and a different track of my career in about 5-10 years.

No. We have doctors, lawyers, professors, PhDs, scientists who all have more education than I do.

I only have 2 MAs. I consider myself as doing just fine, but I think at least 80% of my graduating class finished college. In fact, because of this thread, I am very temped to pull out the yearbook and count.

And yes, we keep in touch. We are a very tight knit group even though we live all over the globe.

On a more serious note, a couple of months ago I got word of the first death of class-member; massive heart attack at age 48. It was sobering.

I'm sorry about that- it is pretty awful to hear of people your age that pass.

My BFF from middle school passed away 3 years ago at age 46- it was very sudden while she was on a cruise. Her death really hit me hard, even though we hadn't seen each other in over 20 years and only communicated through Facebook.

I will say that I am one of two people in my "group" that are still married(with no issues that I am aware of). Seems like everyone that I grew up with divorced or is in the process.

Funny, I was about to post that the wealthiest person in my class is married to a professional athlete! LOL!! 2nd wealthiest is a successful doctor. There are a bunch I don't know about though!

I might have been close when our 5 year reunion came, just because I was one of the few who had finished College and was working in my chosen field.
This year was our 40th, and I doubt I am even in the top half of the class, lots of late bloomers, Judges, successful business owners.

It is funny, a big chunk of those Honor students still haven't found themselves yet out in the real world. They are totally lost without the structure of the academic environment. And a whole lot of the stoners have turned into successful business people. In the case of the stoners, their disregard for "the rules" has served them well in the business world.

I think I've been successful, but I don't think I'm anywhere near the most successful. My best friend growing up worked in the space program, she was in charge of testing & loading payload for the space shuttle. Now that the shuttle program is over, she has been working for Boeing on testing the 787. She was elected to my high school's hall of fame last year, I went to the dinner and was proud of her accomplishments.

My DS and I were talking about this just yesterday, he has the highest education level of his high school class. DS graduated with 500 other kids and as of last week, he has the highest level of education with a doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Wow how does he have time to keep in touch with 500 classmates!! That's incredible! He must have a super long Christmas card list.

Nope. I'd guess that distinction goes to the class cardiovascular surgeon. He's still married to his high school sweetheart. Nice guy. I'm maybe in the top 10% of them. But, tops. No.

Funny thing is when I think of "successful" in the traditional sense, 3 of the most successful in my class were terrible students in HS. 1 is a musician, 1 a retired pro athlete, the 3rd a doctor. LOL
