Tell me about the place - Do they cook in front of you? My real question is Is this the right place for 4 Adults and 1 4 yr. old --- My gut says its not a place he would enjoy .. I value all opinions ???? TYIA

It is a great restaurant; my favorite on WDW property. There are always children there when I go. I have taken my own girls there when they were 4 (and younger) and they have enjoyed it. They do not cook in front of you, unless you are seated in one particular place in the restaurant (can't recall what that area is called).

DW and I were not sure before going but wanted to be a little daring. We were extremely happy. We tried items on the menu that we probably wouldn't have ever thought about trying before and loved them. . .we can't wait to go back next year. The Fillet and Mac & Cheese sounds a little odd but was an amazing pairing. There were some children there during out trip but this may be too adventurous for some kids and adults too if they can't get passed the names on the menu.

We found it to be the most child unfriendly signature place we've been and our youngest was six. My husband's food was excellent - mine was so-so, but I think I ordered poorly. There are always kids there, but it isn't a kid place - however, we were seated off in the "wine room" away from the main restaurant, and we did have a waiter who was not making us feel welcome.

Simba's Clubhouse is available at AKL and might be a great place for your four year old to have a much better time while the adults stretch out dinner....

We've always taken our kids starting at 5mo (they are 2 and 4 now) and had great service.
This is our favorite restaurant on property because of the quality and variety of food.

I agree with the previous posters who said Jiko is not the most child-friendly place. It is a beautiful restaurant, dark and kind of dreamy, and it has a decidedly upscale, adult feel to it. There have been very few kids there when we have visited. Our daughter spent the evening in Simba's both times we have eaten there. She prefers the kid's clubs to dining with us anyway!

I agree that it's one of the least kid-friendly signature restaurants. I wouldn't hesitate to take my daughter to Flying Fish or California Grill.

I will also agree it is the least kid friendly. We did it, but felt a little odd and have never felt that way at any other restauarant. I do not agree that it is dark and upscale. I thought that the ambiance was very poor for a disney restuarant. It was cold and stark IMHO. Now the food, well that is another story. Absolutely awesome!!
