Be carefull in Acapulco!

My friends will be in Acapulco in a few wks on a cruise & they tend to wander into less than great areas. I just got off the phone asking them to be carefull on this next trip and heres why.

From the news reports this is an area that has declined since its day but doesnt seem to be a slum or anything. Like any city Acapulco has its areas not to enter but when they start throwing grenades its time to wonder. Just stay in the main tourist areas please.

Acapulco has always had some pretty seedy areas. I was there in the 70's and it was pretty obvious they had high poverty and the crime that went along with it. There's just not that much to see there unless you're into seeing where Elvis filmed his famous cliff diving scene. Otherwise, play at the beach.
