Be careful with banked points and canceling reservations

I too swear it used to be that order at some point but it's banked, borrowed, current now.



DVC can do it. What you never know is if you can find the CM who can do it or is willing to get it done.

Then I have bad luck because I called over 5 times one day and it could not be done. They could not take the borrowed points out of the trip and replace with current UY because of the order things are done in the system.

Yup. Put me on hold every time and said that as long as they are in the reservation, you can not replace borrowed points with current UY points because in normal circumstances, borrowed points are not returned and the system is set up to take more restricted points first,

It was not a huge number of points, under 50, and my SSR points. Just means I have banked 2020 points in my Dec UY vs. 2021. Given my plans, it is not a huge issue as these will be the only ones banked and will be used during that UY.

As I said, after 5 different tries with different CMs, it wasn’t worth it. Lol

Anytime you make updates and use less points go through and modify all your dates starting with most expensive days do it 2-3 times and you will be set.

They system will automatically take the points expiring or already banked first. The system will not go in to booked reservations to update which points are used unless you modify.

Thanks for this. I'll have to try fake-modifying all my reservations once it is determined when the VGC will open (for real hopefully after the 3rd announcement, whenever that comes). I've been booking 2021 trips one by one as my 2020 trips have been cancelled, and every time I make a new one I talk to MS and they keep telling me that banked points will be used first, but when I have to keep moving the points due to each cancellation, and have no idea which trip will be first, its weird to keep stabbing in the dark and applying the points to the new "first" reservation.
