Be careful when re-booking a rental car at lower rates!

Even though I have cancelled old reservations when I've rebooked at a lower rate, the old reservations still seem to show up in their computers at MCO! I felt kind of stupid when I was told by National that I had TWO reservations for the same dates, when I KNOW that I cancelled the others! The clerk said she'd give me the one with the lower rate.

just make sure that you take the printout of the one with you that you will be using.

Are you sure you got the final cancellation screen? There is a cancel and then a are you sure you want to cancel? Either way, glad it worked out.

we had this happen last year too...

but having the print out from the "best" one ......saved us....we just pointed out there was a discrepancy...she said you have several reservations here ....we told her we had cancelled the others and had the "final" rate printout with us .....

now i also print out the cancellation screens to take with us .....just in case


one thing i always do is "check" what they are going to charge me before we leave the booth.....that way no surprises when you get back...although sometimes when you get back the final price is lower...(right beverly lynn)...will accept a lower rate than they quote but not a higher one....

I always print off the cancellations and staple them to the original reservation. I take them with me in case there are ever any questions about multiple reservations. So far, I've never needed them. If they'd just give a good rate at the front end, we wouldn't have to keep rechecking and re-reserving!

They must have something in their system that tracks all ressies. When we rented from Dollar in May, the agent made a comment about how we were lucky to find a lower rate and make a new res. They didn't have a problem with us doing that and everything was correct in their system, but it was funny that they knew what we were up to!
