ya its down for maintenace right now, hmm.

I am as private as it gets on there, and still, its creep to me. I have been thinking about how to handle FB in general. I mean some people from childhood req to be friends, then never say hi at all. WT heck is that?? I am going to go in and unfriend people who dont talk- but stalk. Why would you want to friend someone, and then not talk to them? Its sooo creepy!! And I am not talking about DIS peeps, there are so many you cant possibly keep up. Its the others that creep me out.

I have a lot of parents/teachers at the school where I work friend me and we never talk on FB but I can't unfriend them exactly....well I can now that I am not working there. I guess, but still...it was weird when I did work there

Here is what I did....
I have divided my friends into lists (it is under the "friends" tab.)

I have different lists and basically only my friends I know can see my stuff, status and pictures.

I created a list in the friends tab called "no shows" and then have customized my settings so they can not see anything.

My half little brother is on there and it is "cool" to have lots of friends and a lot of his friends I have never met have friended me just to have the number. I think that is what some people do.

But be safe the internet is scary.

If anyone has questions about how to do this please PM or ask me. I have set up privacy settings for a lot of the teachers at school and am happy to help if you need it.

Thanks, NikkiBell! I had no idea FB was changing status updates so users could make them universally available. That definitely creeps me out. Click the wrong button, tell the world your status. I'll definitely be more careful when this rolls out to all users. Great tip!

You are saying the lists can have different settings? I know comments and photos and all those can, but didnt know about the lists, tell me how to find that setting please, I not seeing that option.

To see how you come up on the web, Google your Name (you may be shocked at what you find) and you will see every way you show up on line and how Facebook presents you.

You can turn off your Online Profile under the Settings Menu then select Privacy Settings. The last check box will remove your Web listing. This is also where you can control what people see.

I think I am backing off of my facebook usage anyway and this just gives me more movtivation to. I only joined because my aunt bugged me too and she doesn't hardly ever get on there, so what the ?????

I don't see the big deal. My page is wide open and anyone can see everything about me whether they are my friend or not. I wouldn't care if they posted my status updates on the TV in Time square. Everyone can set their own privacy settings so they aren't forcing anyone to be publicly visible.
