Let me just first say that I have barely gotten pins. Let alone the free dining pin after having my e-mail signed up for the past 3 years. Anyway, I have been going back and forth over whether or not to book. I got the free dining pin in my e-mail yesterday and was over the moon. I wanted to book right away. They even told me that if I wanted to upgrade to regular dining then it would $10 per adult and $2 per child. Here is the kicker. My husband qualifies for the military discount. It would be cheaper to use the 40% discount and buy the dining vs. getting the "free dining." I just thought I would pass it along. Make sure you add everything up before booking.

the 40% off and the free dining is always like that
in a value resort free dining saves you more in a deluxe the 40% saves you more.
in a mod you break about even for either one
it also depends how many people you have too

It's like everything, you need to work out the numbers for yourself. In some cases, free dining is a great deal. In others, you can save more money by doing something different.

I agree. I received a PIN for the QSDP and called to get a quote. The code requires I purchase at least a 4 night stay and a min. 3 day base tix. It totaled $1200 for 2 A for 5 Nights in May at POP in a standard view.
If I can get POP for $80 a night online and pay for my tix and QSDP the price is the same!

So they said you could use the free QSD code and pay the extra $10 per person per night and upgrade to regular dining???? Hmm........that might change things for us!! Thanks for the tip (not that it was the point you were posting to make, but thanks!)

I ran the numbers for the 30% off for 6 nights, 7 days at Pop for 2 adults in May and got quoted $1501.25 with the QSDP. Using the free QSDP PIN, it dropped to $1340. These are actual quotes, and both include hoppers. At a Value, free dining should always be cheaper than the room discount (except for a single traveler).

Good to know...I did my own factoring too and got the following:

**Both are for a POP Preferred Room in July for 5 nights.

20/30/40 code + 5 day PH tickets (we have GAD tix so we're only 'paying' for 4 of the days) + QSDP for 2 adults = $1500.00

FREE QSDP PIN (quoted on wdw.com) 6 day PH Tix, 5 nights resort= $1362.20
*notice that this one has a 6 day PH and the first one only has a 5 day PH

however, the price difference between a 5 day ticket and a six day ticket is only $2-3 per person (anything over 4 days is only about $2-3/person/day added). So it is pretty much a negligable difference when comparing the twol

It's definitely wise to work out the numbers to see which offer is best for you. Even if we got the 20/30/40 pin, FD works out better for us.

I must be missing something because we just booked 4 nites, no preferred room, no insurance, 2 ppl, upgrade dining (10.00 xtra pp per day), we only had to buy 1 day park tickets (we have tickets) and our total is $759.06 (includes tax) at Pop. April 28 to May 2.

I know ;) That's why I made the comparison. I just wanted to make sure people noted the difference. Thanks :goodvibes
